That's not true, the US has lots of problems, I for one cannot stand seatbelt laws either which the author mentions, started in NY State of course, they are intrusive and in your face big brother. And there are plenty of laws similar to them.
But looking at all the countries of the world, I still can't think of any other place I'd rather be. At least here we can work to change bad laws.
That of course is a nice, comfy myth! What intrusive laws have we changed (reversed) anywhere in this country in the past, say, 20 years? How do you know that people can't change laws in other places? My whole argument here is that comparisons are good and useful, as much as they upset the chauvinists and the ignoramuses.
