What to expect at the Flameworthy Awards Tonight!! 7.pm. central on CMT! Toby will be hosting!
Posted on 04/07/2003 3:32:29 PM PDT by ConservativeMan55
Everybodys tight-lipped about the surprise guests at Mondays (April 7) CMT Flameworthy 2003 Video Music Awards, but heres what we know:
The last time Flameworthy co-host Toby Keith was interviewed by CMT, he was asked what hed be performing at the awards show. He said he might share one of his bus songs (such as Only the Best-Looking Tuna Gets to Be Star-Kissed), and he thought hed perhaps write something for the occasion. Of course, with Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue up for two nominations -- or three, if
well, you know. Keith is going to make a patriotic statement too. And his rehearsal is closed too. Hmmm
.
Shania Twain has closed her rehearsals to everyone except the TV crew. That means somethings Up!, so to speak. Twain will be catching a flight from Canada after hosting Sundays (April 6) Juno Awards the night before. Shes nominated for four Flameworthy awards -- or five, if she makes the final cut for video of the year. (The 10 semi-finalists will be narrowed to five at the beginning of the telecast.)
Faith Hill will debut her new single, Youre Still Here. On the album credits of Cry, this song lists 18 violinists, eight cellists and six viola players. Talk about pulling strings! The glamorous singer is making preparations to film a video for the song, according to her record label, but no details are available yet. The video for Cry earned three nominations -- or four, if the video of the year nomination comes through.
As much as Tim McGraw talks about his band, theyre sure to take part in his Flameworthy performance. His video Shes My Kind of Rain earned three Flameworthy nominations -- four, if the clip gets final nomination as video of the year. As Rain has pretty much reached its saturation point, its entirely likely that McGraw will feature something else from his latest album -- one of those arena-rockers, Id bet.
Hill and McGraw compete against each other in the fashion plate category (for best-dressed), aside Twain, Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban. Talking with reporters last week, Urban said, Somebody Like You seems like an anti-fashion video. I mean, its jeans and T-shirts and dirt and there really wasnt a lot of fashion in there. Still, he admits its the most enjoyable video hes done so far.
Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow have not sung Picture on live television before, which is saying something, considering that they both seem to be everywhere these days. Depending on whom you listen to, Crow has either moved to Nashville or is about to. Heres what we know to be true: Crow is the only woman nominated in the male video of the year category, for the Picture video. But the real question is, does fellow nominee Kenny Chesney have a better tan?
Martina McBrides performance of Where Would You Be from 2002s Flameworthy awards dominated the CMT airwaves, but shes not singing this year. However, shell be presenting an award -- as will a variety of singing and non-singing celebs. And look for the Naked Cowboy, a familiar sight to New Yorkers, to flesh out the on-stage lineup. The CMT Flameworthy 2003 Video Music Awards will be telecast live Monday (April 7) at 8:00 p.m. ET.

How wonderful and with them announcing on Fox that we may have gotten Saddam and his sons; what more can you ask for? Thank you God for our liberty and people like Sec. Rumsfeld and General Tommy Franks. And people like Toby Keith for setting the record straight.

Good show. Thanks for your play-by-play. It was so nice to see the Dixie Cups get a hostile reaction. I was a little surprised, though, that Sheryl Croak got as much applause as she did. Maybe people were just applauding her restraint in not wearing some ridiculous anti-war getup. I wish she had, though, so that she would have been pummeled. I don't know why Kid Rock ever teamed up with that hypocritical moron.

I can't understand why CMT had Pamela Anderson host their show.......I know people that know her personally, and whenever they talk about this country they speak very critically of regular Americans (i.e. country folks). They have a very strong sense of superiority.

I must have missed something. What was the significance of the yellow ribbons some of them were wearing? Not many had them on. Is this something new. (I just assume if it were a pro-troops thing, more people would have worn them)

So, the Dixie Chicks didn't win ONE award from the CMT audience? I can't tell you how disappointed I am in them. I have followed their career since 1992, since before Natalie joined the group, when they where doing their 'cowgirl' music. They were awfully good. When I would see them in person I would ask others around me why they hadn't made it big in Nashville yet.
Now that Natalie has decided to $#!+ in their mess kit, all I can say is that I am extremely disappointed. From the display tonight, sounds like I am not the only one.

After she had children, she changed her mind about a lot of things. I'm not certain she's conservative, but she has definitely dumped the PETA support.

Get used to seeing Sheryl. Her next album is heading back to her roots of country and folk...

Goodie. But, she'd better get a new attitude to go along with her new album. She'll find that she doesn't get very far with the country crowd wearing idiotic anti-war paraphernalia (ie, War is not the answer, Peace, etc.). Her pop/Hollywood following may think she's hot stuff, but most true country fans think she sucks (if they even know who she is).

I flipped over long enough to see Toby Keith accept an award and remind people that we are "one nation, under God". I also caught a glimpse of Kid Rock in the audience taking a swig from a whiskey miniature.
During the basketball game they were advertising the Dixie Chicks will be on Letterman last night. I didn't stay up for it, anybody watch?
