It can work. Look at the political cesspool we were living in before 2000. We still have the stench of that cesspool coming out of the anti-war demonstrations and the libs of congress. We have our own counterpart of the Quebec citizens in Massachusetts, California, Oregon etc. They just don't want to become their own country, although sometimes I think it might be best. It just takes faith and constant vigilance that the conservatives don't lapse into complacency.

I like your optimism. As the article points out the divisions run deeper than just socialism verses conservatism that we see here in America. Even most of the socialists in this country are loyal to America. It doesn't seem the Quebers have the same ideals as their fellow non-frog citizens. Time will tell.
