Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service™, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I am still suffering without cable due to an ice storm and want to thank everybody for the running reports.

Reading of the uprisings is really beautiful to me. It confirms President Bush's beliefs, all of our beliefs, that the heart yearns for freedom and dignity. I can only hope this gives the so called Arab street pause.

Vol - Your tag line is beatiful

Thank you. I was so inspired by Maj Gen Renuart's story about those beloved soldiers digging with their bare hands to bring their brothers and sisters home. BTW, I told this story to all of my friends and they were just blown away. They had chill bumps and tears coming down their eyes. It's a beautiful story to tell in sign language especially that phrase..."so they could race in the sun....".and the "We're the United States soldiers and we're here to bring you home" and the "I'm a United States soldier, too." Man, I just love the United States of America. I'm just so proud of my country.

Has anyone heard from General McCaffrey lately? He was on the Today Show yesterday morning, being interviewed regarding David Bloom's death.

Somehow I think Centcom is keeping Bagbob alive on purpose so that they can sit and laugh at his speeches. Our military has probably given orders to keep the city block he's sitting in free and clear for a few days.

There are so very many schadenfreude occasions during the past three-four weeks... We're going to have to attempt to recall them in a thread later on...

My favorite is how Chuckie Shoomer said in Ithaca, the day before President Bush's 48hr notice, 'Pres has to lower gas prices... release strategic petroleum reserve... market gouging going on... when we start this war prices will zoom to $80/bbl' ... none was true, none happened... the President made his announcement and oil dropped from 38-->26/bbl in 10 days, LOL... egg on another demodog's face...

Basra uprising wasn't necessarily coordinated --- I felt that the folks there would revolt as soon as they saw us rolling into Baghdad... that's the initiator of that one.

Col. Cowin on Fox asked if anyone really wants to see them all hanging from lamp posts etc.

You can bet your ass that I do!

I despise the New York Times, and I hope they have now been discounted as a reliable source with a sizable portion of their readers.

Another unintended consequence of the war. Perhaps the EPA could tell us how many New Yorkers could live on property now occupied by the NY Times and the UN. (^:

My democrat sister, who still doesn't really like President Bush (I am trying hard on her, but she is a tough nut to crack, being as how she is proud to be liberal) is nevertheless totally PO'd at Hollywood and the various critics for criticizing the President during time of war, and told me yesterday she hates them!

Personally, I think she is in the last stages of denial before admitting she was wrong. LOL!

I am going the extra mile in not saying "neener, neener!" HA!

Note: One of the first signs of capitulation is when the media minders decide they left the iron on and bolt the guys on the webcam.

It said the cache was discovered by Marines with the 101st Airborne Division...

How many Marines do you suppose are assigned to the 101st? ;^)

I liked one of the generals on FOX (sorry too early for name remembering) state that its safer to be fighting in Iraq than driving down one of our freeways in the the states. That should be an awesome compliment to Tommy Franks.
