Two enormous men waving enormous flags epitomized the Support Our Troops Rally in Bushnell Park, in the middle of Hartford, CT, yesterday. The person waving a large, red U.S. MARINES Flag, was our Freeper, Jim Bancroft. The second was an American of African Ascent (AAA-My new term ...), Earl Jackson, who was waving a large red AIRBORNE Flag.
If you were an American, you felt proud and safe. If you were an enemy of America, your first thought would be to find a bathroom fast, then flee.
About 300 people assembled in front of the large covered stage in front of the Connecticut Capitol building, and participated in a 2-hour ceremony honoring our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen.
About 12 civic leaders, military personnel and politicians, including Governor Rowland, made speeches supporting our Country, President Bush and our troops. Although the event was not political, few liberal sentiments were heard on or off stage.
One patriot had a sign thanking Tony Blair and England for joining with the U.S. His sign was noted by a speaker and the Press, so you may see it again.
By the way, no U.N people were there.
Several other Freepers were in attendance. Again, many thanks to Jim Bancroft for helping organize the rally (and putting Free Republic in the lime light again), for working with Brad Davis (radio host) to publicize the event, and gaining the support of Veteran's organization throughout the area.
Final plea: Don't let the Liberals and the Press betray our citizen-soldiers again, as they did in Viet Nam, and as is their perpetual mission. The hardest part of this campaign will be the political war that follows from here on out.

BIG MISTAKE HERE, though, I had NOTHING to do with the organization of this rally, this was entirely created and promoted by that church in Meriden, not me! FR was only an attendee here.
The next rally, BRISTOL CT, APRIL 12, 7PM on RTE 72, that is one that FR has helped to promote and endorse.

Jimmy, at it again I see. Keep up the good work, kinda slow here in Mass but every demo that the peace queers put on had FReepers in opposition, A_Conservitive_In_Cambridge and Guinnessboy had the lead all Army, To The Right Of the Line. (9Th Inf.)

Very nice "after action" report, Frank... thank you for posting it. I'm sorry we didn't meet up with you at yesterday's rally.
FReepers in attendance yesterday in Hartford who were among our group: RaceBannon; firebrand, Dutchy; monafelice; MOABinfidel; ctozgrl; snickersnee; nutmeg; zelig; PatriotBlue127; nutmeg's friend Linda, and longtime lurkers (soon to-be-FReepers) Tina and SkipJack.
During the rally, I met another FReeper with two lovely children, but I can't remember his screen name (sorry!). Sir, if you see this thread, please check in!

About 300 people assembled in front of the large covered stage in front of the Connecticut Capitol building, and participated in a 2-hour ceremony honoring our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen. Overall, it was a very good rally. However, the lousy weather was a factor, unfortunately. I'm sure if we had had a sunny, fairly warm day yesterday, we would've had 1,000+ people attending the rally!

Afterwards, Race took me and Dutchy and snickersnee to see the Mark Twain House and the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. You guys have some strange and wonderful architecture up there, not least being your supergorgeous capitol. Going looking for a picture now to show everybody.
