But this is how Stalinists treat their own. Almost no one has been treated more harshly by the left than David Horowitz.

Deserters have always been executed. More offensive is women and children being used as bomb toters.

Summarily executing deserters in combat is NOT a war crime. It has been done in all armies throughout time- you could look it up.

If these guys didn't want to fight, they should have stayed home.

However, taking reprisals on the FAMILIES of deserters IS a war crime- and I heard something about that being done with Republican Guard deserters.

There will be a LOT of scores to settle very soon now...

Somehow I don't think that was an option for most of them.

Seems they have 3 choices.

Enlist or you and your loved ones DIE.

Fight and DIE.

Get caught deserting and DIE.

An obvious difference between US soldiers and Iraqi soldiers...if our guys went a week without food to eat...we'd shoot our own officers. If we didn't get paid within a month...we'd walk off the job. Our guys are there because they are volunteers and are treated like real warriors. In return, they will fight anyone on the face of the earth...and not give an inch.

"...if our guys went a week without food to eat...we'd shoot our own officers."

An interesting theory. So you look at the "volunteer Army" as sort of a "job" that you can quit anytime if you get tired of it? Don't ry "quitting" n combat- it is the duty of every Officer and NCO to return you to duty by any means necessary- and to stop desertions.

By the way, I once went 11 days with nothinng to eat- I don't recall shooting any officers over it...

You sound like a wannabe armchair warrior. Go back to your stupid video games- the men will take care of this war.

Having spent 20 years in the military...I can say that our guys aren't dumb enough to keep sitting there listening to some Captain or some Major...telling them to starve another week or two or else. And beneath all of the honor and dedication...all of our people live off money. If they were all sitting back at Ft. Hood...getting ready to deploy and the commander said that no one would be paid for the next four months...then he'd have a rough time in assembling the team for deployment. There is life after the military and everyone is now tied to the economy in some fashion. People can't and won't do hard tasks for free. American military personnel are prepared for the fight...but they don't want to be treated like scum. When you look at the Iraqi military...most of the regular army enlisted folks were treated like scum and threatened with death if they didn't accept being treated that way.

There would be some people in both categories; however, if the personnel knew that lack of pay and/or food was unavoidable, I strongly believe most would stay. Fortunately, our officers/leaders treat their troops with respect and honor....and it shows in the loyalty of the troops. Can't make a blanket statement either way...

If you spent 20 years in the military, I assume that you are retired.

Are you aware that advocating the murder of U.S. Officers by their soldiers is a crime? I don't really grasp whatever point you think you were trying to make, but you are treading on dangerous ground here. If I were you, I would back off.

Do you actually think that American soldiers would shoot their officers if they didn't have food. What an insulting and outrageous statement to make. That is insane. Do you have no respect for our men and women? I think this fight is more about freedom and honour and protecting our country than if they have a little rumble in their tummy.

That is a disgusting statement to make! You should be ashamed.

Your lefthanded compliment for our military didn't go off very well, did it?!

Decent people don't approve of, or advocate, fragging our military officers.
