After Action Report - Operation Infinite Freep - Galleria I (Houston, TX)

Today ten members and lurkers from the Houston Chapter of FR (H.A.T.) gathered for another show of support of our troops, our country, and our President. Today's event was familiar surroundings for many of them, as the place was the Galleria, site of many Election 2000 Freeps.
We regret to inform our freezing friends up North, but with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's, winter has finally left Houston for good. The featured sign was again the "We Support Our Troops" banner, but other "Support Our Troops" and U.S. Flags of various size were also present. Also present was a U.S. Marine flag.
The Freep lasted two hours, and judging by the large numbers regarding our "honks of support", it appears that Houston is in support of the decision regarding war in Iraq. PetroniDE noticed only three signs of dis-approval by passing motorists (a separate count by Houmatt was two). Humblegunner and Flyer served as photographers for the event. No trouble with the police was observed for this event. Flyer and Stevie_d_64 notified the local police regarding the event and no counter demonstrators appeared. Several members, including Eaker and Texas_Cowboy marched with the flags around the complete intersection to obtain support from motorists traveling from the opposite direction. The after-Freep meal was at the Rajun Cajun and Humblegunner took possession of the chapter banner from PetroniDE.

That doesn't look like "Ragin' Cajun," it looks like the Bayou City Cafe. Now y'all quite lying about where you went to have crawfish. Don't try to tell me you were at Ragin' Cajun. Illbay knows everything and he has spoken.
Looks like a great time was had by all!

Wow. You all had a GREAT idea if I'm seeing correctly. Did you all just go stand on a busy corner with your banners and flags? I love it.
Think I'll try to organize something similar here in Austin. Might be interesting to have a large sign saying "HONK FOR OUR SOLDIERS" and shouting USA, USA USA.
Thanks for Sharing.

Awww man, what a perfect day for a FReep! Looks like you guys had a great time in a perfect location.
Funny - last I'd heard, Lee P Brown said NOBODY could protest outside the Galleria anymore (after our election FReeps every Saturday for weeks). Looks like he's had a change of heart. LUCKY FOR HIM!

Did you all just go stand on a busy corner with your banners and flags? That's it! We picked what is probably the busiest intersection in town. The support we got was great. Lots of honking and thumbs up. We even have pedestrians stop and shake our hands and thank us and some folks told us of their family members that are serving.

Looks like you guys had a great time in a perfect location. It was a great time. We had five folks join us for the first time and they really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Stevie D. for his work with HPD CID. They met us when we arrived, went over the plan and all was cool.

That's great. Thanks for the pictures of the Galleria area - also my old stomping grounds; it still is when I go home to Houston for the holidays! Heck, from a Texan in California, I'm even glad to see the pictures of the restaurant (not too many down-home places out here in LA!).
