Medford, MA (04-05-03) - A Great Success

earlier today (04-05-03), there was a pro-america rally in Medford Square, MA. About 15 people showed up and represented all generations. the first to show up was a New Hampshire native, i'm sorry i forgot his name. then i joined and by 9:50 we had a sizeable group. another FReeper was Guinnessboy. we had some good signs: "First Iraq Then Chirac" "Communists/Students get paid to protest" "Support our troops" "honk to support our troops" "the U.N. is U.N.prepared, U.N.important, U.N.necessary, U.N.American" and "BELIEVE!". there were some people from UJP, they clocked in at 10:00 exact and out at 12:00 exact (thats the only time they get paid for maybe). one guy came to oppose us and our troops with a megaphone, after a good tongue lashing (no physical contact) he was gone in 5 minutes, not to mention that his megaphone was not as loud as one women, Donna, even though she didn't have a megaphone. a few people walking by got us coffe and hot chocolate. The low numbers were probably due to the weather, it snowed, rained, and sleeted in the short time we were there. it was my first time at the Medford Square rally, but others said it was the best yet.

i hope to see those who can come next saturday at 9:30 a.m. Bring the family.

Hello BostonianRightist:

I used to live in Medford, MA (1988-1997). Grew up in Concord. I'm thrilled that you guys are FReepin' back there (I had given up on hope for what was once the "cradle of Liberty"...thanks for reminding me that some up there still remember what the Founding Fathers fought for!)

Best wishes and prayers from the heartland of America (Central Missouri, in my case, where Thomas Jefferson is a big deal {our capital city is named for him, and we have a statue of Jefferson at the University of MO, where I work at the College of Engineering.} This is the 200th anniversary of the Corps of Discovery expedition, you know, Lewis and Clark...) hey, I hope someday you get a chance to visit us.

In the meantime, keep up the good work, and welcome to FR!!!!!

Hey, come and join us at the Columbia Post Office next Saturday, 10am! All FReeps are great, and Freepers are the greatest.

Keep up the good work, "cradle of Liberty." The Founding Fathers and friends started small also, and look where it got them--and us! You may lead Medford into its second revolution. HA.

Thank you, military!

I also used to live in Medford, MA (1963-1981). Grew up in that town and left to attend college in the mid-west and never moved back. Now live in Texas. Also thrilled that there are still people there that remember.

Keep up the good work, and root for those Red Sox (please tell them to get some relief pitching).

Hi PetroniDE:
Big MO greetings to you in TX (the biggest state in the lower 48, and the biggest hearted! I have friends in TX...they sent me one of those silly brochures with the dancin' cowboy boots all over it a couple of years ago..sure,...it was corny, but I want to visit! My father was stationed at Ft. Bliss after WWII...he loved it, and I've wanted to go to TX for a long time.)
Did you hear something about how they were trying to rip down Fenway to build god-knows-what, probably some monstrosity like the Spaceship in what used to be Soldiers Field in Chicago? (Peyton is crying in Heaven somewhere.)
Ugh...it breaks my heart...one of the few things I enjoyed about Boston (besides the ocean) was Fenway (Dad got third-base line tickets from his company, and we could use them if he couldn't find anyone for the game. They were only four rows up, you could almost talk to the guys out there. My sister yelled at Wade Boggs one time about the Margo thing, and my mom whacked her! We met several local celebs there...Tom Cottle sat right behind us once...a guy caught a line-drive in about the eighth row, and handed it down to him.)
I try to read the Globe online, usually it makes me so angry I have to go to the Catoftheday.com or NASCAR or something just to calm myself down.
Will try to make it next week (I don't often street-protest...I'm too likely to deck someone. Irish temper or something...)
God bless...
SR

I've been lurking a long time, and just get so excited about posting, I can't keep anyone straight.
Go Sox!

And God Bless both of you!
