Ventura County/Santa Barbara County - Let's get organized
Posted on 04/05/2003 7:44:15 AM PST by Rabid Dog
Tired of Lois Capps? Do you call the Ventura Star newspaper the Red Star? Tired of the anti-war babies getting all the press? Let's get organized (in a very loose, non-committal kind of way). I'm trying to put together an e-mail/freepmail/ping list so that we, as a group of conservative Ventura County and Santa Barbara county residents, can mobilize quickly for firing off letters to the editor, attend rallies, etc. Please identify yourself if you wish to be included! We can really make a difference!
I am also starting a Ventura County Chapter - about the only difference is a greater involvement in planning and excuting events.

Thanks for the reminder about today! By the way, the Star printed a letter of mine a week or so ago, as well as some good pro-troops/pro-GWB letters. A few days later they printed one by someone at my hospital, anti-war as anything and who said we need to take the country back in 2004. (It seems to be that the anti's are usually really anti-Bush, not anti-war) But oh well, at least Star managed to print a few pro-troops/GWB letters before getting back to their usual habits.

That's a good example of why I want to get a little more organized - so we can respond to letters like that! I'm (mis)quoted again in today's Star. I never, ever said I was a Clinton-Hater - I just said I would vote for Satan before I would ever vote for him! Can you believe the nerve of that reporter!

Seems like a heck of a good idea!
You may have the Red Star in Ventura, but we are protected by the vigilant stand taken by Wendy's Warriors and the mush-minded ninnies at UCSB.

The Star and the L.A. Times get my blood boiling every morning - It's kind of like my morning coffee but not as tasty.

I think you should write to the editor and tell them you never said you were a Clinton hater. (I was disgusted with Clinton but never hated him).
Hope everyone's rallies went well. I am spending time with my family this weekend and will be starting to buy some groceries for FoodShare. Check out Colleen Cason's column yesterday...the military families are short on $ right now. Also, for the big push rally at the end of the month, I think it would be great for everyone who can to donate to foodshare.

They printed my letter too, aI responded to the person whose kid had something hard thrown at him. I responded about kids flipping us off, just as bad I think.

Does FoodShare go to the military families? I would prefer to direct any benefits to military families/soldiers - is this possible?

Merry 10 and I are kicking around a mini-rally at Constitution Park in Camarillo next weekend - just a mini-freep for an hour or so. The memorial is looking kind of lonely. Any interest?
Any Camarillo freepers or lurkers interested? Please post or freepmail.

CamSupporter is all for the mini-rally at Constitution Park!

Then I think we have a rally to plan. Any time good or no good? I think "pray for peace" people are there on Saturdays around 1:00. Merry10 has the details. I can head down any time Saturday or Sunday. Let's see if Merry10 checks in.

I'll contact Family Services on Monday during my lunch and make sure we can directly provide them our donations.

The Citizens for Peace, I think, are on Sundays from 1 - 2. I'll check tomorrow. I heard they were there last weekend and some of the long time Cam residents were annoyed they were right on the War Memorial. DId you know there was a prayer vigil tonight at Padre Serra? Started at 7.

How about Saturday then? I'm tempted to hit the Farmer's Market too - we could do a mini march to our mini rally!
