No Elizabeth Smart Movie for Sweeps
NBC has concluded that it is not feasible to air a movie about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping case during the May sweeps as it had initially planned, the Los Angeles Times reported today (Friday). Although the network could have relied on the public record to produce a screenplay, industry observers expect that any telefilm will require the cooperation of the Smart family. The Times reported that little progress has been made in negotiations with various producers, although a family spokesman commented that the Smarts are still "looking into the possibility very strongly."

I'm just dying to see the list of actors wanting to make money off of Jessica after condemning this war.

We have such lousy actresses nowadays. They are all looks and no substance. I hope they are very particular in who they choose. That's if they HAVE TO make this picture. None of these stupid lookalike girlies that are so called hollywierd actresses. You can't tell them apart they all look like

Probably should wait to get the full, complete, true story first but this little detail never bothered Hollywood before.

Yes, it would be interesting.
It could be a great movie if done right. I just hope they don't have Jennifer Aniston who always looks like she has to go to the bathroom, as was stated on another site.

I don't particulary care for the idea. I dunno. Just seems really tacky to me. Besides, these tv movies always grossly exaggerate what actually happened. Anyone remember when some nut hijacked a school bus down here in South Florida? Well, the tv movie they made of it grossly over exaggerated it. Nevermind hiring Maria Conchita Alonso (A young, thin woman in her early 30's) to play the bus driver (Who in reality is an old, fat, 50-or-so year old woman). And that's not even mentioning the fact that they threw in stuff that never actually happened in reality.
If Jessica and/or the family wants to give this movie the go-ahead, that's fine. Just think it's really tacky, and the movie itself will be a complete turd.

No Elizabeth Smart Movie for Sweeps Thank goodness. That whole thing was merely a (temporary) pre-war diversion for the masses anyway.

This is disgusting.Sure it's a great story but what about the young men who have died? Aren't they worth a story?
This young woman is no more special than any other soldier. We are living in a country that is celebrity crazy and making Jessica "famous" demeans all the rest of those making sacrifices.

When the inevitable movie comes out, I won't be going to seeit and I will be encouraging my family and friends to give it a pass.
Hollywood won't be able to keep from giving it some kind of anti-war slant.

Disgusting, yes, but to commie, hippie, dumbass, scumbag Hollyweird, men dying in combat is "dog bites man" (and since they're men, they probably somehow deserved it anyway), while PFC Lynch's case is "man bites dog". We'll probably never know what really happened that night, but it doesn't matter to Commiewood. They'll change the story to fit their political agenda, and portray the war as immoral, Bush as an evil dictator who sent Lynch in to be brutalized and tortured, and then make a push for women in combat arms units. Disgusting, indeed!

I said it before the left would exploit her Probably get some little Bush-Hater twist to play PFC Lynch.
During the interview by Matt and Katie the actress will say she did the project because she hates the military and the Bush Regime and sees the movie as a protest of the exploitation of womyn by the GOP.

If this picture does get made, I nominate
Emma Caulfield for Jessica Lynch. Beautiful, conservative, a fine actress, and her experience on Buffy would come in handy for fight scenes.

No surprise here. I bet it will be titled "Precious Cargo".

I wonder how the families of the nine murdered soldiers would feel about this.

Apparently Tears of the Sun was a good treatment of US combat against the bad guys. There are conservatives in Hollywood. This could be a great movie and it would be great for enlistment quotas.

I hope there are not fight scenes which will make this movie the most phoniest pieces of trash. Jessica did not fight with her hands and because she was with the supplies was probably not heavily armed. Who knows if she even shot at them. I want to know the full story before we act like she was some sort of wonderwoman. She was a brave soldier yes but a frightened 19 year old girl too. Hollywierd should portray her humanity and tell her about her amazing rescue which was the real thing.
