"Stand Up for America" Rally in La Mesa this Saturday
Proving that La Mesa supports its Commander-in-Chief -- the one in Washington, D.C., not the one on The West Wing -- the City Council unanimously adopted a resolution last week in support of our nation's troops and President George W. Bush. This will be followed by "Stand Up for America," a rally this Saturday, coordinated by the members of the La Mesa City Council and sponsored in part by American Legion La Mesa Post 282. We invite all residents of La Mesa, East County and San Diego to join us for a morning of patriotism and a show of support for our troops and military families during the war.
WHO:
The members of the La Mesa City Council, as well as invited guests Congressman Duncan Hunter, Senator Dennis Hollingsworth, Assemblyman Jay La Suer, County Supervisor Dianne Jacob and other East County dignitaries join the members of the American Legion and the public in a tribute to our military troops, courageously providing freedom and security to all of us here at home.
WHAT:
Stand Up for America Rally, with food and patriotic music -- fun for the entire family. Assemblyman La Suer's Blue Star Service Banners for those with a family member serving in our military. Stop by, pick up a bumper sticker, and send a strong message to our troops we give them our maximum support.
WHEN:
Saturday, April 5, 2003, 10-11:30 a.m.
WHERE:
The American Legion
8118 University Ave. (at Spring Street) La Mesa, CA 91941

The rally was ok..all the politicians were out, only about 150 people or so, but it was good. Lots of honking horns and such.

150 is a great number, biblical even! Thumbs up to all of you.
Our mayor (Richmond, VA) is demanding President Bush to account for all his actions and wants the troops home immediately. (sigh) Could we work out an exchange?

The UT said you had 200. The prayer rally in Chula Vista was estimated at 300. :-)

I thought there's be many more at Chula Vista because of the military families down there.

LOL! next weekend most likely. The time change has me off balance. I was supposed to be in El Cajon at 9am and missed it by an hour. :-(

The 300 was a rapidly changing crowd. Plenty of folks came for a little while then left. There was no food there so that may have been the issue.
