My sentiments exactly. I tried composing a post on this earlier but gave up in frustration at the thought of how hollywood would twist the complexity of war into some tidy little homily on all the latest PC thought.

In the Sahara during the North Africa Campaign the Brits (me late neighbor being one of them) would have the bagpipers pipe during the dark of night. They usually could get the Italians to run, and even sometimes of the Germans. Imagine being holed up in the bleak desert and hearing the pipes wailing away.

Another thing he said they would do is to sleep buried in the sands during the day, breathing thru tubes. The sand kept them cool and hidden. So he said.

I read the book, but that was years ago....so I quite forgot the entire thing, lol. I think I've had "sometimers" come on between the book and the movie.....

HA! I'm waiting for THE WHISK to be sold at Linens and Things.
