PRINCETON BOROUGH - The Rev. Pat Robertson spoke from the lectern at Princeton University last night like it was his pulpit, calling students to stand up for their moral convictions and not be swayed by popular culture.

His hair is all gray now, he had surgery in February and is recovering from prostate cancer, but the evangelist showed no signs of wavering last night when he spoke at the invitation of a student group.

Or, would you rather go for broke and have the Federal Government "assign" the "proper" religion for us all?

You're missing the point. Congress, the entity barred from establishing a specific denomination, = the federal government. At the time of the constitutional convention, 9 of the states had established churches.

For the logic impaired, state <> fed.

Help me out here with your list of false religions.

actually, you list is a good beginning. In colonial America many states had 'test oaths' which required a profession of standard, generic, but specific CHristianity for holders of public office.

"Instead, he spoke about the role of religion and government to an audience of about 400, arguing that the United States is based on Christian principles and could not be prosperous without such principles."

Why is this even a subject of debate?? This illustrates how far this country has strayed from its foundations.

As for equating the Crusades with Islam, there is no comparision. Muslim killers swept out of the Saudi wastes in the 600's. They overran the Christianized Holy Land, Christian Egypt and North Africa, and eventually spread throughout Christian Anatolia, the Christian Iberian penninsula, the Christian Balkans, and Christian southern Italy. Like a plague out of the Exodus, they murdered, enslaved, raped, pillaged, killed and tortured Christians.

Muslims oppressed Christian everywhere they spread, and terrorized Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land.

I applaude the Crusades.

I honor Richard Coeur De Lione. I regret he didn't behead more Muslim fanatics during his career as we would probably have fewer of them to worry about today.

Take a walk Muslims!!

When it comes to intolerance, whether in he past or presence, Islam is light years ahead of every other religion!!!!

”We have laws against conspiracy.. You can't use a mosque or a church to conspire to kill people.”

Really? How do you stop that? I’m serious. What has the government done to end the practice of Imams using their weekly sermons call for the deaths of Christians and Jews? This is a common occurrence in the Middle East. And I have no reason to doubt that it occurs in Mosques in the US. But until recently it was illegal for the FBI to enter houses of worship for the purpose of observing what was going on.

I know of no Christian or Jewish denomination that has been accused of the incitement that Moslems get in their weekly services.

”Say what you want about the sermon, (Be it from the OT, or the Koran) but I don't see allot of American Muslim Jihadders. “

Well, I’ll cite you at least three: the Moslem convert who fragged his officers in Kuwait, and at least one of the beltway snipers (perhaps both) as well as the guy who shot up the El Al airline counter in Los Angeles. These are just off the top of my head. These are three who have taken action. I have no doubt in my own mind that there are many others who have contemplated action.

”Even so, the KKK and the Socialist Workers Party are covered by our First Amendment.. They rant against race & religion all the time.’

As for the KKK, I have heard that their meetings are so infiltrated that they may well be classified as FBI get-togethers. The SWP, when it incites its followers to take up arms against the people of the US should be dealt with effectively.

My argument is with people who take extreme and absolutist stands on certain rights. The right to bear arms is a right I hold very dear. But I’m firmly in favor of prohibiting the individual possession of “personal nukes.”

Freedom of speech is a most precious right. That is why I find it offensive when its defined in frivolous ways such as the right to commit sex acts on a public stage.

Freedom to worship is a precious right. That is why I find it offensive when Mormons, Baptists and Islamofacists are equated. That is a little trick that the Left has to brand Jerry Falwell as the moral equivalent of Osama Bin Laden.

I would hope that thinking people have the ability to make fine distinctions. To understand the difference rape and making love, between a murderer shooting his victim and a policeman using his gun in defense of a crime victim.

I am told that there are many fine American Moslems. CAIR tells me so, and so do many on this thread. But I have yet to see that outpouring of support on the part of that community for the American side of this conflict. All I see and hear are the mutters of rage from the Imams and the whining of discrimination from the leaders of CAIR.

I think the American people deserve a little bit more of an expression of allegiance from the “religion of peace.”

It’s not so amazing, considering the absence of history in schools that so few people have the knowledge to put the Crusades in context. Congratulations.

Pat Robertson is doing his best to warn of the danger around us and we can all stick our heads in the sand and pretend he is wrong but he isn't. The only thing wrong is the cult of death called Islam!

"As long as Islam is considered one of the major religions of the world, I think the U.S.A. would have a hard time declaring it a false religion - without perhaps 'establishing' a state religion at the same time, in any case."

There is nothing to add to that; your post sums the whole thing up perfectly!

Is Islam Inherently Anti-American?
On September 11, 2001, radical Islamists — the type who take Islamic theology literally— demonstrated their unequivocal opposition to all that America stands for. Convinced that a war between civilizations has already begun, hostile to the notion of individual rights and pluralism, and supportive of belief over reason, Islamists are now making a revolutionary bid for the allegiance of a deeply divided and frustrated Islamic world. http://www.cato.org/events/030410bf.html

Not to those who are trying to stir up the "haters" and make this site look like the haven for intolerant whack-jobs the left-wingers say it is...but thanks!

Jimmy,

You feel inclined to fall on your sword for Islam's right to be here ala the First Amendment even though at least 2/3rds of them worldwide express support for Bin Laden...be my guest.

I'm not buying.

Similarily, you won't get to heaven by beating Christianity into them.

Nobody filled with as much hate as he has will ever get into heaven.

I'm surprised at you; you're perfectly willing to trash the Constitution because you don't like Muslims?

Interesting.

Leave it to you to come up with a stunning post! The word is gift not special. :>)

ps

Islam is a threat to America as it is to all who deal with it. Take India for example.....
http://members.tripod.com/israindia/isr/Nov7/ISLAM.html
However what is even more dangerous is the fact that the entire belt of Indo-Nepal Border is turning into a Muslim dominated area with the madrassas mushrooming. These madrassas, apart from churning out rabid Islamic Fundamentalism are also epicentres of Inter Services Intelligence activity. The corridor, so created also provides a safe route linking Bangladesh with Pakistan, through Jammu and Kashmir. The implications for the threat to Indian Security are obvious. (Concluded)

I don't consider that trashing the constitution to say that I am unwilling to tolerate sworn enemies of my country in our midst who are bent on the destruction and subjugation of our nation and culture on the pretext of "freedom of religion".

Particularly when that religion proscribes that it is their duty to engage us. We have to be able to determine who is hostile and who isn't and I'm not for them hiding behind religious freedoms.

I will not "trash" my country for the sake af a rather broad interpretation of freedom of religion. When that religious expression is bent largely on our destruction, we need to have a bit of common sense.

Before we reread the King James, we must read the entire Koran AND Hadith, the battle plan of Mo'ham', another murdering thief. Islam means submission.

The favorite son of "Medina" dazzled his desert audiance with his out-of-body experiences, long before Art Bell made them popular.

The continuing story of Islam is that Mo'ham' and his death cult decided it pays better to invade, plunder, and enslave civilized nations than to earn a living in their homes' dusty filth within Arabia. What has changed in 13 centuries? Body counts and trillions of petro-dollars.

Everything we need to know about our Pan-Islam mortal enemies is in the Koran, Hadith, and Old Testament. Either we understand Islam or our children's children will pay submission's price.

As is mine.

Take for instance people who desire a wholesale 'ban" on Islam. If you will re-read the thread, post #5 is what brought me into this. Post #5 is calling for such a "ban"

Now, if you want to set up strawmen & conspiracy theories, be my guest.. But there's nothing to justify such a "ban"

As I have said, repeatedly.. We have laws against conspiracy. Peaceful worship however, within those laws is Constitutionally protected.
