Saddam vows to defend Baghdad in statement read on TV
BAGHDAD, April 4 (Reuters) - Iraqi President Saddam Hussein told his people Baghdad would be defended, in a message read out on state television on Friday by one of his ministers.
"The enemy is trying to enter Baghdad," Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf said, quoting a statement he said was from Saddam.
"Let every family in Baghdad be assured...our faithful men will confront the enemy."
Most of Baghdad, without power, was probably not able to watch the short broadcast but it was likely to be repeated on radio.

I thought the enemy was nowhere near Baghdad?? That he was a 100 miles away? And now he's trying to enter it? Heck, these guys can't even keep their lies consistent. It would make Soviet propagandists blush with embarrassment.

Heck, I can't even keep up with them anymore.......LOL.

Remember, after the first night of bombing, the best that the information minister could come up with is a statement that went like this:
"Bush is stupid! And he is condemned! And he is...condemned!"
We're not dealing with high watt intellectuals here.

Saddam didn't choose his inner circle for their abilities or for independence of thought. What you see with yes-men and toadies is exactly what we've seen on TV.

Seriously, I don't think it's imporatant whether or not he's dead. Just as long as he is stripped of all power and influence in the region. He's as good as dead.

I don't agree, Saddam must die. This world will never be safe with him in it.

Someday I know that that goofy Information Minister won't be part of my daily life and it saddens me. Watching his daily contortions has made the price of admission ($80B) worthwhile IMHO.
