LONDON (Reuters) - Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri said on Friday that Saddam Hussein was alive, but refused to say whether he had seen the Iraqi president. "He was seen yesterday meeting with ministers," Sabri told BBC Radio in an interview from Baghdad.
But asked if he had seen him personally, he replied: "It's none of your business to ask this question.
"The President is well, the leadership are well...and they are functioning as normal."
Iraqi television showed footage on Thursday of Saddam chairing a meeting of senior ministers. The television did not say when the meeting took place.
London and Washington say they believe most, if not all, Saddam's TV appearances since war began two weeks ago were pre-recorded, not live.
The rumor mill has been fueled as a number of statements from Saddam have been delivered to cameras by his ministers, not by him personally.
British Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon said he "simply did not know" whether Saddam was alive or dead.
"It is not our business to reply to rumors and lies," Sabri said. "Lying is the golden rule of the administration in Britain and in the United States."
U.S. forces seized control of Baghdad's international airport on Friday, their biggest prize so far in the 16-day-old war.
Sabri said Iraqi soldiers would force them out of the country. "We shall make it happen by our own steadfastness, by our own fighting," he said.

But asked if he had seen him personally, he replied: "It's none of your business to ask this question." We'll take that as a "no".

"It is not our business to reply to rumors and lies," Sabri said. "Lying is the golden rule of the administration in Britain and in the United States." The foreign minster then said, "no, the Americans aren't anywhere near the airport. What a silly question! Don't you know they're hopelessly mired at the Karbala Pass?" :-)

Here is what I believe:
http://www.acsa2000.net/Baghdad/ Combined with the conclusion that the "appearances" were taped, and NO clear post 3/19/2003 appearances, I'll stand with the presumption he is dead, and that a son is running things.
Lying arab-muslims should not surprise anybody. These Iraq spokespersons are nothing more than lying arab-muslims.

The thing I can't figure out though, is that if Saddam's dead, why risk their lives for the bastard? I get the feeling they don't know any better than we do, but they're too scared to give up because they just don't know for sure ... and don't know which of their own people to trust.

This is so funny, every time they have done a speech, it has been filled with lies!! These people wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the a$$!!

"Lying is the golden rule of the administration in Britain and in the United States." No, lying is the golden rule of the Democrat party, your ideological brethren. I do hope you save your best lies for your war crimes trial, you're gonna need them.

Where Saddam's at, they might be treating Saddam like a virgin. The way Uday treats women.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Says Saddam Alive Not much of an information minister. He should follow our politics more closely. Once they start fielding questions like that, the suspicion just grows and grows. He better call Carvile, and quick.
