I used to watch combat. As I kid I thought the M-14 was the greatest looking weapon. Then one day I'm walking though a gun show and there one was. I couldn't wait to pick it up. I asked permission and picked this sucker up. I nearly fell over. It was a very heavy weapon. I had held comparable weapons. By comparision it was by far the heaviest. All of a sudden those years of thinking I wanted to own one left me instantly.

Sounds like a typical internet legend to me.

Why you think this is "news" with all the real stuff going on in the world is beyond me.

Isn't there a "gunnuts.com" or someplace else where most people would actually care?

They would have to waive the '86 ban on registering "new" full autos on the NFR. M14s are classified as machineguns. They could make a nice sum on the weapons though.

I'd really like to have one of these I went through basic training with one of these, thank God they passed out the lighter M-16's for real use. Those things are real heavy, but make great range guns.

And I don't think they're destroying them anymore. USMC has used some for the DMR, and isn't the M14 still the Navy's issue rifle?

Pity the unarmed, for they are useless.

As I read the petition, they were planning to render the rifles semi-automatic before sale.

No need to waive the '86 law. I personally want all gun laws abolished, but I'm a radical. However in this instance I signed anyway.

You can buy the same basic gun with out the selective fire. I have a National Match M1A. Have a friend that has a legal M14E2, that is a fun gun. If you want select fire I can point you at one selling for $10,000.00 + $200.00 tax.

I think I heard that the Navy has with drew them from general use but they may still be carried on some of the Subs.

According to ATF, this is not possible. They would have to be demilled and welded-up.

Rendering them semi will not help. By the law once fullauto always fullauto. There was a Manufacturer a couple years ago taking cut recievers they bought as scrap and welding them back together. The BATF rounded up all of them they could trace, unregistered fullautos.

I will agree that most (99.9%) gun laws should be repealed. There are a couple that make sense. But at this point in time if I want to shoot a machine gun I'll either buy one or call a friend that has one setting on the shelf.

I asked permission and picked this sucker up.

Now you know one of the reasons why the So. Vietnamese soldiers had such poor early combat records. The M-14 was heavy for an average occidental, let alone the small frame of an oriental. And the rifle kicked. Teaching new recruits to learn to shoot the "14" and not close both eyes was a job.

Though the AK-47 is a pile of junk next to a Weatherby, it was perfect for jungle warfare.

The ATF? They don't know their assholes from elbows. All the AFT is good at is killing innocents.

Talk to a decent gunsmith before believing anything the Assassinate The Families death squads have to say.
