Nearly all the time, when I pray, it is a silent prayer.
The minister could have given voice to those words that were appropriate, then SILENTLY added that the prayer was "in the name of Jesus Christ." God would know.
That would have been proper. Your way (and his, I suspect) is calculated to make a point, even offend, just to make that point. Foolish.
