Williams Realizes Bombing of Baghdad Not Like Dresden (Brian Williams Airhead Alert)

Brian Williams versus Brian Williams. The day the bombing of Baghdad started, NBC/MSNBC/CNBC's Brain Williams claimed the scene “looks like Dresden, it looks like some of the firebombing of Japanese cities during World War II.” But on Wednesday's NBC Nightly News, Williams stressed the difference with World War II: “The fire bombings of Dresden and Tokyo in World War II were meant to kill civilians and then terrorize survivors. Here we’ve seen the opposite happen.”

At about 1:12pm EST on Friday, March 21, as MSNBC showed live video of explosions in Baghdad, Williams asserted: “That vista on the lower-left looks like Dresden, it looks like some of the firebombing of Japanese cities during World War II. There’s another one. Still going on. You hear them overhead. Either jet aircraft or cruise missiles but yet another explosion.”

Fast forward to the April 2 NBC Nightly News and the MRC's Rich Noyes noticed how Williams outlined the efforts taken to avoid civilian casualties: “Civilians used to be intentional military targets. The fire bombings of Dresden and Tokyo in World War II were meant to kill civilians and then terrorize survivors. Here we’ve seen the opposite happen. U.S. forces have more than once been the targets of civilian attacks and could be forced into killing coerced human shields despite all attempts to avoid it.”

Somebody probably contacted that airhead, Brian Williams, and told him what a dope he was with his IDIOTIC comparison of the bombing of Baghdad to that of Dresden. To save face, Williams waited until last night to make a correction without seeming to make a correction.

Williams is just a teleprompter reading airhead whose primarily qualification is a nice head of fluffy hair.

Baghdad is not comparable to Dresden. HIROSHIMA was not comparable to Dresden.

Yes, we're going to terrorize civilians and kill survivors!

Man, I hate TV airheads.

Brian Williams?

"I'm joined by Jack Jacoby, that is, Lt. Jack Jacoby, uh, Jack, uh what do you say when there are some who may say that the things others say about the way this war, some may say, is being handled, uh, what do you tell the people who said this that when it comes down to taking care of power, of ruthlesss power, is the correct process to commandeer on the battlefield, as some may have said on this day, two days ago."

I believe it was Rummy (or Gen. Myers) who made first mention of the Dresden reference - and was none too pleased about it. It did take "The Brain" some time to amend his statements.

Yes.

March 9-10, 1945: The raid was carried out by 334 B-29s, stripped of guns for greater bomb load, carrying 2000 tons of incendiaries. Total death toll was 100,000.
