Iran Says War Will Bring More Terrorism
By ALI AKBAR DAREINI .c The Associated Press
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Iran's reformist president warned Thursday that terrorists would view the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq as a ``green light'' to attack U.S. interests and called on Americans to ``wake up'' and stop the war.
``Those who drop bombs and missiles on Iraq will harvest nothing other than destruction and people's hatred,'' state-run Tehran television quoted President Mohammad Khatami as saying.
``If this war is not contained, its consequences for the world and the region will be many times more dangerous than the Vietnam tragedy.''
Iran's soft-spoken president said the invasion of Iraq would only provoke violence.
``Through this war, you are giving a green light to extremists to resort to violence to counter your violence,'' Khatami was quoted as saying. ``The American nation should wake up and stand up to this war. America's warmongering rulers are isolated and alone ... and the war will isolate them further day by day.''
Iran dislikes Iraqi President Saddam Hussein but also has strongly opposed the U.S attack without U.N. support, fearing that it could give Washington a free hand in post-Saddam Iraq and leave Iran encircled by pro-American countries.
Iran has said it will not support a U.S.-installed government in Baghdad and instead favors an Iraqi government elected by its people with guidance from the United Nations.

Sounds to me like the next in line on the 'Axis of Evil' is starting to get a little nervouse. Maybe worried Tommy Franks may decide to make a hard right...

These arguments are growing tiresome. It's analogous to saying that if you put water on a fire to put it out, that the water will splash the fire onto another house, making the situation worse. Nonsense. Bottom line -- if you don't put the first fire out, it will spread of its own accord.

Riiiiigggghttt... and before this war we were loved so much, we were given "love bites" in the form of car bombs, boat bombs, poison letters and aircraft into our buildings. It was truly like "puppy love" when boys and girls hit each other on the playground.
Now, though, we could make them mad...

What do you have to do to convince these people? Didn't they hear the reports of U.S. soldiers knee deep in Iraqi body parts? Were they not shocked and awed? Don't they realized that the U.S. will soon control countries on both sides of them? What is the matter with these people?

Iran Says War Will Bring More Terrorism Sounds like a threat to me. We don't like threats.

What's driving Islamic fundamentalist terrorism is the realization that their warped view of how the world should work is losing - and losing badly.
It's not that they hate us, though they do.
It's that they are desperate. They feel as if they're being forced into a corner, where they have no choice but to accept that others have the right to live as they choose, or to die.
And they're absolutely right.
Our victories are going to make them more desperate, not less, and more violent, not less.
But they will also mean that will be fewer of them, not more, and that they'll have fewer places to hide, and fewer places to look for support.

Sounds like Iran doesn't want its population to see free, liberated Iraqis celebrating in the streets.
To: kattracks
You want some of this too Iran ? This dog will bit you if you try and kick it first.
To: kattracks
Awwwwwwwww Zuit!!
That does it then, let's bring out army home and sing Kum-ba-ya with the Iraqi killer-maggots.
Thanks for the warning, Mohammad Khatami. (SBUH)

Heaven forbid we give the terrorists a
Green Light! 'cause up to now, they've been patiently stopping for red lights, and even yellow.
To: kattracks
Sounds like a broken record. It is these Islamic governments who give the "green light" regardless of whether we pursue a diplomatic or forceful solution. Diplomacy has failed since the Islamic Revolution -- now time for the other approach -- the "big stick" approach.
To: kattracks
To begin with, Kathami is not a reformist. He is full of poop. Evan most of Iranians don't support him at this point because he talks and does nothing but kiss the asses of the ruling Mullahs.
Iranians want change. They are sick and tired of muslim zealotry.
Kathami speaks but not for the majority of Iranians.
