POW Family Denies Daughter Shot, Stabbed

PALESTINE, W.Va. (AP) - The father of rescued POW Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch said Thursday that she was in great spirits following her first surgery and denied reports she was shot and stabbed during her captivity in Iraq.

``We have heard and seen reports that she had multiple gunshot wounds and a knife stabbing. The doctor has not seen any of this,'' Gregory Lynch Sr. said.

I hear you there, brother, but I'm still hoping like hell that PFC Lynch took some of those dogs out, and I think it kicks ass that we went in there and got her, and you can call me a male chauvinist pig, but I hope they went in after her first and with the most determination, and I'm (sniff, sniff) just so damn proud (sniff) to be an American.

That's about as sick as the thread debating about her baby. As if it is anybody's f-ing business!

I don't think that's it. POW's are generally returned to their families quickly after treatment and debriefing. Another story said that military counselors are already on their way to meet with the Lynches. No doubt some preparation is needed, but I suspect she'll be back in the USA by the end of the weekend...just as soon as she's stabilized enough for an ambulance flight back from Germany. The military is quite good at getting wounded soldiers back to the US to meet their families.

If she were going to be in Germany for long, the family would have flown there. No doubt people have offered to pay their plane fare.

A2J has a point. One way of trashing someone is to spread wild and improbable stories about them. The broken bones sound like the injuries she got when the vechicle crashed. I never believed that anyone with two broken legs would rise up to shoot Iraqis, and then be taken alive.

We are supposed to be the thoughtful thinking people, not the hysterical emotional drama queens.

"We" is the problem....there is no set way for "we" to act. If you find some people have gone over board call them on it based on how you feel not how "we" are supposed to feel.

She gets a call from her dad after coming out of surgery and says she wasn't shot or stabbed.

I betting she is feeling no pain and is heavily sedated.

This story will flip flop at least a couple of more times as the facts are established.

Personally, I hope and pray nothing for the very best for this young girl. Perhaps we'll never know exactly what she went through. But I can't help but feel there are some people being grossly overlooked in this episode. Those brave and courageous soldiers who rescued her.

It may well be that she was abused in an attempt to loosen the tongues of her male comrades-in-arms, who, as mechanics, probably had little tactical information to give up and accordingly were murdered. Our culture conditions men to be protective of women....

thanks for the ping, this thread is too long and convoluted to make sense of so i will just say the following and be done with it.

i deeply appreciate pfc lynch's service to our country and hope she makes a complete and speedy recovery. i also hope she gets any medal that she DESERVES, and, if she is an honorable person, she will refuse any medal that she does not deserve.
