Yup.

I don't want to be paranoid, or anything, but I'm worried. A lot of folks are already way too cocky. If there's one thing this maniac should have taught us, it's that he's treacherous and ruthless.

I think we better be very, very, careful here. This sounds way too easy.

The vaunted Republican guard is only vaunted in our media's eyes.

David Pryce-Jones, a noted Middle East expert, said that Iraq would implode... as suddenly as the old Soviet Union did...

That is what is going on...

They will not fight for Saddam. They hate him and want him gone. They are desperate to be liberated.

I do have a lot of concern that Saddam will still go NBC on our troops (nuke/bio/chem...not Katie Couric..though both are quite noxious)....but I think our leaders are well-prepared for this

If Saddam goes NBC on our troops......I demand that Kofi Annan and Hans Blix are arrested and sent to Gitmo as war criminals. Their handling of the inspections was not negligence...it was deliberate, to cover for Saddam.

God Bless Our Troops

If you had a Fedayeen in your house, might you not answer the exact same way? I mean, I would assume that she's under duress. She's letting her niece know that there are Fedayeen in the houses, without saying anything that will endanger her own life.

Easy way to handle that. Ignore them and don't go in the houses. Eventually they will starve to death or get out of the houses.

Many have been wondering about the 2nd Marines. The following unclassified information is provided.

The primary elements of the II MEF include the 2nd MEB and the 4th MEB.

As of 18 March members of the 2nd MEB (TF Tarawa) were forward deployed in Kuwait awaiting orders. Since that time they have been operating under the leadership of I MEF. During their tenure with I MEF they have been providing physical security for forward C3 assets (2-6) and moving forward with I MEF participating in the assault at Al Nasariyah (2-8).

The 4th MEB is commissioned with Anit-Terrorism activities and is actively involved in Op Enduring Freedom. It is expected to bring it's considerable expertise to Op Iraqi Freedom as the coalition secures the country and begins rooting out the holdover Baathists hoping to act as terrorists after the war is won.

Several elements to the II MEF Air Group are also deployed and providing various direct action and support roles.

So this is saying they have been, essentially, split up and already are deployed with other units. Well, I have been waiting for an army to come out of the northwestern desert, but if this is correct, that won't be happening. And, as of now, it probably isn't needed.

It could be that their fighting forces have been decimated by air power and have had enough. But what is the fun of discussing that?

Could be. Sure hope so. Seems to me, though, that a mass desertion like this would've leaked back to our people who have been talking to Iraqi military officials so long about this.

What worries me most is the combination of no resistance and the power going off. Maybe I'm worrying over nothing. Sure hope so.

This is similar to the tactic they used to destroy the Christian army at the Horns of Hattin. They put up a fierce resistance to draw an enemy attack, then retreated. They lured the crusaders into the area between the Horns of Hattin, and the crusaders were all cocky thinking they had driven them, and then the barbarians in filthy nightshirts closed the trap and fell on them from both sides, and wiped them out almost to a man.

The Christian army didn't have satellite imagery. There's no doubt we know exactly where and Iraqis are and in what direction they're moving, while the enemy has little to none of that info. At this point the Iraqis can put up scattered resistance at best. There's nothing they can do that will seriously jeopardize our objectives. And that includes WMD.

True it may have been a RUSE for the media, but I don't think the RGs that are left would describe it that way. ;)

Those 10's of thousands are either attrited or so dispersed that they can mount no offensive action.

1. His choices were to mass his forces or disperse them. Either choice was bad. Massed, they could be targeted in mass. Dispersed, they were useless on the offense AND they could systematically but SLOWLY be targeted and destroyed.

2. America's so-called "quagmire" plan is nothing short of unadulterated genius.

We may need a large occupying force, at least at first. Don't know about three years, though.

it's not really even genius, it is a simple fact of military superiority. one guy is bigger, stronger, faster and a better fighter with better weapons than the other
no matter how you slice we win
