All right, I know a lot of Freepers don't care for Drudge anymore, and I'm pretty ambivalent myself.
HOWEVER, I would not have found Free Republic without the link that used to be on DrudgeReport.com back in the Lewinsky days. The Internet Archive Wayback Machine offers a view of Drudge on 12/12/1998 when the link to Free Republic was still fairly prominent.
I thought other Freepers would find this article interesting.
FRegards,
CD
P.S. - I did not resolve all the hyperlinks in the article... gotta get back to work!

Ping.

Good for Matt. He deserves the $$$ after all the crap he had to weather from those NBC geeks. His is still one of the best unfiltered news sites.

Hmmm, with the rise of Free Republic as a force in conservative politics, I'd think he would link to it again.

Thanks... I didn't see it posted here.
It's SURE to spark some (ahem) impassioned debate.
Love your tagline, BTW.

I too found FreeRepublic back in the day, from a Drudge link. I still go to Drudge's site many times per day. It serves its purposes. However, for hard hitting, up to the second news and commentary, NOTHING beats FR.

He's turned Hollywood, so I gave up on his "news". I will check it out maybe once a day, but I have all but stopped reading any of his 'scoops'

Yes, I still check it out, but I am on FR more than I check out Drudge.

Matt, if you're reading, thanks for getting a bunch of us to Free Republic.
But I still want to know - are you quidam? or is it William Safire?

I didn't realize that. Oh well.
To: Constitution Day
That's where I found FR. Oddly enough, I never read Drudge just went straight to the Whitewater link.

Matt deserves every dollar he makes. With the radio show, he must be making over $1 million per year before taxes. This a Great American Success story.
I hope he becomes a media mogul. Maybe he will buy TIME magazine or start the Drudge Radio Network.

Matt Who?
To: steplock
He didn't TURN Hollywood. Hollywood was his roots and apparently holds a special place in his heart.

"'The Internet is going to be the thing that knocks off CNN.'" " The Internet is also putting a sizeable dent in newspaper readership. I have some friends who still read the paper and call me when there is anything special I need to read. They haven't called in a long time. Maybe because they are spending more time on the net like me.

The only paper I read (occasionally) is my hometown paper, when I go see my parents.
Now that the paper has a website, I don't even do that.
