Hard to say. A lot of fire external but not through the hatches. Suggests the gear on the outside caught fire, but the hull was not penetrated.

Firing at some flashes of light up by some palm trees. Looks like they lost communications for now.

Greg Kelly back on, said they took care of the Iraqis by the trees.

Ollie North back on...

The fire was on the side(left).

Not very vulnerable there, even for that missle.

I wonder if it was a molitov cocktail.

Fire was on the side. Mostly gear and treads.

Reuters reporting that they are SIX miles outside Baghdad.

Ollie on now.

BTW, that guy anchor looks like a marionette with all that pancake makeup and shiny lipstick. Someone needs to tell the dude that a little makeup goes a long way. I swear he looks like the guy in Cabaret.

From what was said, it sounded more like the tank fire had more to do with a mechanical problem than with enemy contact

No, they don't. US no longer does body counts.

Suppress the resistance and move on.
If you go see if there are injured enemy over there then
you are obligated to take care of them.

Let the enemy handle his own wounded. It takes two enemy
troops to carry away one wounded one.

The tracks have rubber treads which will burn with thick black smoke.

If the fire is only treads and gear, then the tank could be up and running within an hour or two.

Again there was no sign of smoke coming up from the hatches.

I wonder if they were carrying some extra diesel and a tracer got it. The hatches were closed and no body seemed concerned. I dunno.

Actually I think the rule of thumb is that 1 injured soldier effectively lowers the fighting capacity of the enemy by 3-7 soldier equivalents.

Not only are men required top carry away wounded, and then treat and transport them, but the sound of screaming and dying men saps the resolve and the will to fight of their colleagues.
