I can email you a vulgar one fired in my direction. It was deleted and the author suspended.

I am not the one reading into this story that it is "bull--fertilizer", that PFC Lynch is "a little girl who belonged at home with her Daddy," or that she was "a poor soul whose main accomplishment was getting lost."

It is this trash that I am posting against. I have no quarrel with those who want to reserve judgment during the first blush of a report, which as we know, are often inaccurate; but the statements I have quoted do not reflect 'reserved judgment.'

Seems to me many here want to throw out praise without even knowing the full story.

If FR was run to your standards, it would be a very boring place to hang out. I thought one purpose of FR was to comment on breaking news. If the truth changes, opinion changes. It's not like we're setting national policy cast in stone.

I swear, it sounds like a lot of posters on this thread and others related to this story are sorry she was rescued.

Oh I believe whole heartedly the people making those type of posts are moronic and just trying to stir things up. The problem is they are getting the reaction they are looking for.
On the other hand I see a swing to this story 180 degrees from them I find equally annoying.

Right. Since I read in a Dick and Jane book in 1st grade that girls are weak and cry, I decided I was never going to be like that.

And some people say that public education doesn't have a profound influence on you.

I have never thought that crying amongst women is a sign of weakness.

But, if being as tuff as you talk is what you need in life...I hope it works for you. I hope you are happy...or at least content.

I don't trust happiness myself as a rule...but that's another thread.

Regards!

I suppose heroism is in the eye of the beholder.

Were the original 7 astronauts heroes because they rode ('spam in a can') inside a CAPSULE, over which they had no control whatsoever, into outer space & plunked down into the Atlantic from which they had to be rescued? Von Braun thought it was silly to have to put windows in those capsules, but the astronauts insisted. They also installed some switches inside that didn't do anything.

I dunno...they're many heroes over there right now. But that PFC Jessica Lynch! DUTY, HONOR, COUNTRY...Where do we get such women?

May God bless her. She oughta get at least 3 days & 2 nights at Camp David...with a guest of her choice, in addition to the medals!!

The Holy Spirit is my Comforter.

Part of being happy is being grateful for what you have, not whining about what you don't have.

I will call her a hero. I have room in my life for plenty of heroes.

Family risks life to save Jessica

Doctors in the Saddam Hussein Hospital spoke of AMPUTATING Jessica's legs.

No, I prefer your style of spreading misinformation.

Careful. A group of people are busy trashing Jessica on another thread, and they may come over here.

Men are really emotional, aren't they?

What I want to know is who was the navigator for this lost unit, male or female?

Obviously a male. A female would have stopped to ask for directions. ;-)

Lastly, PFC Lynch was captive for a week. Capt. Michael Scott Speicher has been POW for nearly 12 years, with numerous live sitings (some as recently as this week), yet our leaders have done nothing to rescue him (and my congressman didn't even recognize his name!)

The Marines had good intelligence on where PFC Lynch was being held, the layout of the hospital, numbers and locations of guards, etc, etc. See the thread about the Iraqi family that passed that information on.

As for having done nothing to rescue Capt. Speicher ... you know that for a fact, do you? I wasn't aware you got a briefing on each and every operation (military and diplomatic) that has been carried out in the past twelve years. I'm impressed. </sarcasm> Nothing that ultimately worked, perhaps, but to insist that nothing at all has been done is mere speculation. Ugly speculation, at that.

Matter of fact, my friend, I do get somewhat of a briefing, since I was involved in USMC, USAF, and with pararescue my entire 27 year career, correspond with and visit both my USHR and USS regularly, was was involved in the "Desert One" fiasco, also was assigned to aeromedical evacuation in 1973 and met each of the repatriated POWs from North Vietnam, have two Purple Hearts myself, and am in constant contact with and am a memebr of Rolling Thunder, Alliance of Families, and have more data on my PCs than you care to read.

Nuff said? Speicher is constantly mentioned (by or congress!) as having been recently sighted. Now, you tell me that for 12 years we can't garner some info on his location (think about what you said about Lynch...money traks to these people and 12 years is one helluva long time to have no results!)

By the way...don't you find it inyeresting that most of the info in the thread starting article is now bebunked (the gunshot wounds, stab wound by an Iraqi weilding a knife, etc.)?????????

American education has been dumbed down and the English language so debased, that few appear to know what common words mean. A " HERO "( heroine, for a female ; please note ! )is NOT someone who does what they are supposed to be doing and have been trained to do. John McCaine is NOT a " hero ", simply because he was a POW; neither is Lynch a " heroine " because she was a POW and has now been recused. People, who do extraorinary things, spectacularly well, above and beyong the CALL OF DUTY , are heros and / or heroines.

Brave, lucky, plucky, even couragous, are words that can be and SHOULD be applied to Lynch.

We grew up in a world far different and to us, as to our parents, grandparents, great grandparents...as far back as on can go, the word HERO, was something quite special and hardly ever given to anyone. That's when the rest of us could look up in awe, to actual HEROS and not have to wonder why.
