I remember a special from the Kosovo campaign about our ability to use radar to determine exactly where incoming sniper fire was coming from, and to return fire on that exact path. The Israelis used a similar technology with a .50bmg on a crane during the incident at the Church of the Nativity last year. I can only presume the technology has advanced considerably.

Nope...Pentagon is still looking for the F18 crew AND the Blackhawk crew. No other news, after all these hours.

The Los Angeles Sheriff set that system up here in SoCal in Willowbrook in south central L.A. on New Year's eve a few years ago to try and stop some of the shooting at midnight. After several hundred shots the system was too overloaded.

LOL, I heard about that system when I lived down there. It's basically a bunch of sensitive mics, which are used to triangulate the position of a gunshot. Very rudimentary compared to what the military uses for counter-sniper and counter-artillery.

Isn't Ollie's company a good ways back? Best I can tell the guys closest to Baghdad(at least from the south) captured that close in bridge over the Tigris(around Salman Pak?) while Ollie is coming up from Al Kut.
