And fewer homicide bombers in Israel.
Hahahaha!
Oh, yeah :-))
Despite all the naysayers in the media, this has been a brilliant war plan. We're at the outskirts of Baghdad in two weeks. Whoda thunk it?
The airport is toward the southwest. 3 ID will be first to get to it. Marines headed up Tigris will secure inner city bridges that cross the Tigris, and divide the city.

I agree.....Saddam Airport MUST be a prime target.
Well, the airport is in the open. I mean, it's not really defensible against a serious armored thrust. It has a huge highway that connects it to the southwestern neighborhoods of Baghdad proper. Here's the airport....
It's right next to the big "1 3" on this flight map. The airport is cheek by jowl with the city. A more detailed map will show you the cloverleaf on the highway leading to the airport terminal. This town has nice big highways leading into it. Great for Saddam's ego. Better for our armored troops.

Hey your American Ambassador up here ripped our federal Canadian government up here a day or so ago (for the second time) and he did it in Montreal. It was really good he is doing this. It is all political of course seeing we are contributing to the war effort but it is giving some good amo for the Canadian conservative parties (PC and Alliance) to use. Now if we can only unite these two parties.

I'd say they're having their TERMINAL crisis right now...at Saddam Int'l Airport!
Airport loud speaker: Attention ladies and gentlemen: There will be a slight delay due to unexpected turbulance...on the ground!

The first City Map of Baghdad is fantastic!

Saddam International is a strategic target. We bomber command and control there about 36 hours ago. Shown at yesterday's CENTCOM briefing.
There is also a center city airport, a third one to the SE, and a fourth one due north of Saddam International, about 3 miles north.
I was just thinking it would be mighty cheeky of us to fly in the 4th ID into that airport. ;-)
Go, Paul! I read the text of his speech. Have you ever visited our sister site Free Dominion. Some of us go there when FR is down.
A U.S. commander in the Gulf said on Thursday that a prominent Shi'ite Muslim cleric in the holy city of Najaf had issued an edict urging Iraqis to remain calm and not to hinder U.S. invading forces.Hey, is that Walt Rodgers I see in the BagCam?"A prominent cleric, Grand Ayatollah Sistani, who had been placed under house arrest by the regime for a considerable period of time, issued a fatwa," Brig. Gen. Vincent Brooks told a news conference in Qatar.
"And it was done this morning, instructing the population to remain calm and to not interfere with coalition actions. We believe this is a very significant turning point and another indicator that the Iraqi regime is approaching its end." LINK
*slaps forehead, V-8 moment* I forgot that I have it bookmarked.
Heheheh. Part of 4 ID are already on the ground, but once we secure Saddam International, it'll be used effectively, you can bet on that.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
SW, please note the corrections (substantive, forget spelling!).
Any big news overnight? If Rick's off the MREs and onto complaining about the heat, I figured we had a good night. What did Bob A. say???
Just wondering if it was a specific op, or just the standard nightly visit.
