The Dead Dictator Club

THE DEAD-DICTATOR CLUB

As the war goes on, I have to admit that I’ve gotten tired of this “Where’s Waldo” stuff with Osama and Saddam. I’m declaring them both dead as of now. But I don’t want to be unfair, so I’m also proposing a way that they can prove me wrong....

And now that war in Iraq has broken out, Osama has been conspicuous by his failure to appear and denounce the U.S. invasion in any very specific terms. All he’d have to say is, “The infidels are near Baghdad, but they’ll never triumph, no matter how many fanatical death squads they kill!” But noooo. . . . . Not much doubt here. He’s a goner.

Saddam’s situation isn’t much better. .......

Is Saddam dead? Hiding in a hole and afraid to come out? In a Francisco Franco-like state of near-death that’s not quite dead enough to allow a successor to take office?

Beats me. But I’m declaring him dead as a doornail. An un-dictator. History. Osama, too.

Could I be wrong? Sure. But don’t worry. If I’m wrong, all either of them has to do is to appear on video and repeat this: “No matter what it says on GlennReynolds.com, I’m still alive.” Ten simple words.

Don’t hold your breath.

We won't hold our breaths; they are either physically dead, or functionally dead. Either way, the effect is that they are dead.

The "shock and awe” of this war was accomplished as designed; targetted for Saddam in his bunker and making him effectively “longer with us” (buried alive or entrapped many feet below below ground it makes no difference) -

- and accomplished, no less, on the *first* day of this armed conflict!

I'm not sure about Osama, but I believe Saddam is dead.
I hope, however, that I'm wrong. I'd prefer we caught the slimy pile of dung and put him in prison.
Preferably some place like Turkey where the standards aren't as high as in OUR prisons.
Besides, if we put him in a U.S. prison, some dirteating liberal lawyer would A) try to get him off on a technicality, B) sue the government for better prison conditions, or C) try to represent him in a book deal.

Wouldn't it be kind of cool, in a Twilight Zone kind of way, if Saddam was buried alive in his bunker, breathing dust, drinking piss and eating dirt?

Yes, and it would be REALLY poetic justice if his two sons were busted up and dying in agony and Saddam had to sit there and watch them die.
Just like the parents of children he tortured as punishment to the parents.

physically dead, or functionally dead.

Would you think me a bad person if I said that I prefered the former?

Kind of like 'Timothy'. (One hit wonder by The Buoys)

Trapped in a mine that had caved in
And everyone knows the only ones left
Were Udee and me and Osee
When they broke through to pull us free
The only ones left to tell the tale
Were Udee and me

ok, I personally think he is dead, but...

Am I wrong that it has been established that he really was in the bunker they bombed on the first day?

OK, so.. Can you imagine the look on his face when a BUNKER BUSTER and 30 FREAKIN' TOMAHAWKS came down on him?

I laugh out loud every time I think of it... If he is not dead, I bet his ears are still ringing... LOL

The problem with with revealing the method/methodology by which his prescence was 'established' as being in the bunker would reveal certain 1) compromised systems and 2) the personnel that 'work' those 'systems'. I think the method they used established with a high degree of probability that 'persons' were where they determined them to be - after Teriq Aziz (sp?) made a (couple of?) phone call(s) ...

Somebody likely had an SS7 Turbo Box (or equivalent) watching an SS7 link or was watching specific subscriber 'traffic' being 'routed' at a one 'switch' or another ...
