Kornet missiles and now this. Some people are still a little miffed over losing the cold-war. BTW: I was going to post it earlier but it was still in Russian. Check out the pics.

"Gazeta.Ru has obtained sensational evidence proving the involvement of a group of former Soviet generals in preparing the Iraqi army for war against the United States."

So we can thank Putin for Iraq's dismal performance?

Suckers...

Judging from the performance of the Iraqi Military, the Russian Generals may have done us a favor.

I'm really disappointed in Putin. During his visit here, talking about being a Christian and his Mother's cross and all, I thought maybe we'd have an improved relationship with Russia. Guess I'm gullable [sp?]

"...preparing the Iraqi army for war against the United States. The generals in question refused to discuss their degree of involvement, but admitted that just before the beginning of the US-led campaign against Iraq they received state awards from the Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein."

"...retired Soviet officers, Col.-Gen. Vladimir Achalov and Col.-Gen. Igor Maltsev"

From C.I.A. Hunts Iraq Tie to Soviet Smallpox : "Iraq might have obtained the mysterious strain from Nelja N. Maltseva, a virologist who worked for more than 30 years at the Research Institute for Viral Preparations in Moscow..."

Coincidence? Since Russian women's family names generally are "feminized" (Raisa Gorbacheva, Naina Yel'tsina, Lyudmila Putina), Ninel Maltseva could be related to this general.

This article was already posted and discussed in another thread.

As I pointed out there, this is the same Achalov that is mentioned in Colin Powell's autobiography.

Didn't our Homeland Security Department just hire Gen. Yevginy Primikov, a former KGB general, to "advise" them on security? I'd say the only thing he's experienced in is maintaining a police state. So what does that make us? Or am I a "traitor" for even mentioning this?
