Where do they get men like this?
I don't know for sure, but I have $20.00 that says they are from the Red Zone.
Good point! And, Hasan Akbar got his hatred for America in a blue zone.

I didn't say Sean Penn WAS a Boomer, just that he is a "gift" to us. And I think he is technically within the age range of a Baby Boomer. I could find out, but that would involve looking up data about a man I find morally repugnant. I'd rather tongue-sponge a latrine.

Oh -- thank goodness. Hubby and I are Baby Boomers -- and the thought of Mr. Penn being included with us was "morally repugnant" to me as well!!! Of course, Bubba and Hitlery are Boomers...yikes!!!!
I got a true kinesthetic surge/gag from your description of cleaning a latrine...will have to remember that one for those special occasions.

I don't know. Why don't you ping Diogenesis? With the great stuff he posts, he would be the first person I would ask.

Posted already. Keywords are our friends.
Actually, in MY experience, keywords are virtually WORTHLESS, as there are no consistent rules for exactly what to use. i.e. in this instance, these not-necessarily-obvious keywords were posted on the three currently existing threads:
1st thread- KEYWORDS: EMBEDDEDREPORT; IRAQIFREEDOM; LTSMASH; MARINES; WEBLOG;
2nd thread - KEYWORDS: MARINES;
3rd thread - KEYWORDS: EMBEDDEDREPORT; IRAQIFREEDOM; LTSMASH; MARINES; WEBLOG;
And, while searching for the
words in the title is generally the best way to avoid posting duplicate threads, this particular thread title has uncovered what appears to be an unfortunate weakness in John Robinson's otherwise EXTRAORDINARY search engine for this forum:
In addition to ignoring words of three letters or less, it also appears to ignore COMMON words, such as "where," "like" and "this" - so the ONLY word in this particular thread title which gives ANY results in the FR search engine is: "young:

"They are made not gotten."We have a group of boys in our church that have formed an acapella singing ensemble.
About two months ago they asked my 16 yr. old son if he wanted to sing with them.
My son said yes and now sings with them for church specials.
What's so great about this?
My son can't carry a tune in two buckets and a wheel barrow ... that's what, but these boys of 16 and 17 have exhibited more maturity than most adults by recognizing that a friend of theirs was being left out in this area and they took it on their own to invite him in.
BTW ... this has increased my son's confidence about his singing a hundred fold to where he can sorta', maybe carry a tune these days.
As an aside, most of these boys are home schooled and have been raised in the fear and admonition of the LORD.
(Christians understand the proper definition and application of those words)

The reporter should be told that they get young men like this in the non-liberal, non-America hating part of the country that he doesn't hang out in. (Hint: it's between California and New York) Whatever stupid ass state your in, please stay put and stay the hell out of California.
All these men are from my state of California, a**hole. All have been killed in Iraq, you big mouthed AH......
I have nothing but contempt for your lack of respect for all of our men.
Lt. Thomas Mullen Adams 27, of La Mesa, California
Lance Corporal Jose Gutierrez 22, of Los Angeles, killed securing port of Umm Qasr.
Sgt. Michael E. Bitz 31, of Ventura, Calif.
Cpl. Jose A. Garibay 21, of Orange, Calif.
Cpl. Jorge A. Gonzalez 20, of Los Angeles
Cpl. Randal Kent Rosacker 21, of San Diego
Lance Cpl. Patrick T. O'Day, 20, of Santa Rosa, Calif
Pfc. Francisco A. Martinez Flores, 21, of Los Angeles.
Lance Cpl. Jesus Suarez Del Solar 20, of Escondido, Calif.

Wrong. Check out the home towns. Los Angeles, Santa Rosa, etc. Unless you're talking about Oceanside, Escondido, or 29 Palms, they're native. I know, because the families have been interviewed on the local news.
To: SwankyC
They are "from" California because they take up residence when stationed here. I speak from experience.WTF are you talking about?

I have a feeling that the Liberal Left
isn't too happy with this type of report.
I just hope that Bill Clinton doesn't give out any orders
to his buddies in Hussein's Regime to come down harder on Americans and put an end to this "pro-American" reporting, during his bought-and-paid-for propaganda-speak on 60 minutes this Sunday night.
In a time of War...
Hillary Rodham Clinton SHOULD NOT be on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
And Bill Clinton SHOULD NOT be on 60 Minutes.

Hold on just minute there. I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, and I think my comment may have been misunderstood.
Let me try to clarify.
I'm not "Anti-California" or "Anti-New York"
There is an element (probably a vocal minority) of liberal elitists that have a great deal of sympathy in the media and among celebrities. They seem to be centered in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. They don't spend much time between those places. They refer to the rest of the US as "fly-over country".
I happen to believe that those men that the reporter was with, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, are heroes of the highest caliber. They are probably not the type that the reporter has spent much time with.
For the reporter, it probably came as a shock that young men at that age would show such a serious maturity and concern for others, when he probably knows more of the young men who cut their classes at college to burn American flags in an "anti-war" protest.
So to try to be more specific, what I meant was, these young men come from America. The real America. It does exist in California and New York and in-between, (I shouldn't have generalized for entire states, and for that I apologize - I'm sorry.) But it exists in a lot of places in between as well. It doesn't exist in the elitist, cynical, liberal places in the heart of Los Angeles and San Francisco and Manhattan, where this reporter has probably been hanging out.
But again, I'm sorry if I offended you.
I have an older brother currently in Indian country. Many of my friends from college (The Citadel, class of '92) are currently serving. I keep them in my thoughts and prayers daily.
Please accept my apologies for any offense.
