Blame Clinton and Company!!! I never had any doubts about the mechanical condition of the Navy planes I flew in (the enlisted mechs are the BEST)UNTIL the budget cuts of the '90s hit. Then maintenance, aircraft availability, and spare parts availability went to hell. Its criminal!!!

I know.
Under Clinton, my artillery unit saw it's spares budget get slashed horrifically.
So when things broke, we couldn't replace it.

And yes, it is criminal, because it endangers lives beyond just teh guys using said equipment.
The SAR guys could get killed during rescue ops.
The flight deck crew could get killed by such stupidity.
And other such things that I don't need to get into that you are already aware of.

Though I *do* miss the sight and sound of the howitzers...
