I know.
Under Clinton, my artillery unit saw it's spares budget get slashed horrifically.
So when things broke, we couldn't replace it.
And yes, it is criminal, because it endangers lives beyond just teh guys using said equipment.
The SAR guys could get killed during rescue ops.
The flight deck crew could get killed by such stupidity.
And other such things that I don't need to get into that you are already aware of.
Though I *do* miss the sight and sound of the howitzers...

Yep. Several years ago, under Clinton, my son the Marine Sgt. (the youngest is a private) told me during a conversation that they had cut down at the firing range as they did not have ammo for practice. I shipped him two cases of 556. Disgusting.
