Does anyone have any ideas where we can send PFC Lynch some Get Well cards and such?
Seeing her pictures really hit me, and I want to send her a card to let her know that she has people out here praying for her.

BTW, Jessica and her brother enlisted on the same day.
We are right to take this opportunity to thank this family for their service to our country.

I can't imagine what it must be like to live with you. I haven't seen many of your posts that aren't just downright rude. Or better yet, just plain obnoxious. Someone just wants to do something decent, and you always have to piss in the Wheaties. What is that all about?

As a native West Virginian, I can tell you many of us find Senator Byrd to be a disappointment, and an embarassment much of the time. But, he's a given fact of life here, there is no voting him out, he'll be there until he passes on or he decides to retire. While I disagree with him on a lot of things, and he does vote against many things us hillbillies believe in and hold dear, he can be useful at times. My family has found him to be quite useful on more than one occassion. A phone call from his office on your behalf works miracles in the blink of an eye, as many of us idiots here know from first hand experience. He does have his uses.

Nope, it's not just guys.

This is beyond politics. I have in the past called his office with my thoughts on his terrible behaviour towards our president.
This is for Jessica and her family.

bump thanks for all the info this thread has provided. One happy West Virginian!

Elk, His office called OldFriend back in less than 10 minutes, and he/she posted that way up thread.
Look, we're trying to do something NON-Political here.
With all due respect, take the shots at Byrd to another thread.

Thanks, you are right, this is not about politics. I told the gal I was calling from NJ and she said no problem, she'd call right back and she did.
I got in comments on my support for all our troops.

Apparently that's not the case, and Byrd should have known that. It looks like after her status as MIA that the local post office agreed to accept submissions. The email address is probably a new one for this purpose, too.

it's interesting how much you learn about people from their posts isn't it?
To: GraniteStateConservative
Well, GSC, again, I'm not trying to defend Byrd, but it appears they did call OldFriend back in fairly short order with info on where to send cards and letters.
To me, that's doing a Good Thing.

I just wanted to bump that "America's Little Sister" campaign.
Lee's, that is an EXCELLENT idea.
to be honest, I'd be thrilled to see alot more people than just the folks here at FR to adopt it.

When I heard Jessica Lynch was rescued alive, tears welled up in my eyes. When I thought of the families of those who are still missing or won't be coming home, the tears flowed. Is there any interest in creating a thread to track family contact information for all the MIA/KIA, and possibly forming a collective effort to express our thanks and sorrows to the families of all those that encompasses? I also want to wait for Jessica to make it home, and then I want to send her a card or flowers or something once she's here to get it in person.
To: OldFriend
Have Sen. Byrd's office check FR, apparently FReepers are more adept at doing constituent services than they are. :)

Good point AIT.
I had thought of using another word, but I didn't want the Mods hosing this thread because of any poor word choices.
