WASHINGTON -- Congress opened a new round of debate Tuesday over federal financing of a new bridge over the American River below Folsom Dam, but even the closure of the dam road to about 18,000 daily commuters last month doesn't seem to have moved the issue any closer to resolution.

A new bridge was just opened over the American River in Folsom just 3 years ago. This is all about whining for more "free" money. I don't see why they just don't let some private company build a toll bridge. All of a sudden, people wouldn't see the need for spending so much time in their cars. But this is California.

From my own personal observations, traffic is not even as bad as it was before the bridge opened.

This is about a traffic short cut. This is about a relative handfull of people saving time on a commute, not traffic congestion.

People in the area south of the river are absolutly relieved the road over the dam was closed.

And, the shortcut is from one affluent area to another. Eldorado Hills, and Granite City have quite possibly the highest per capita income in the entire metropolitan area. this would just be a subsidy for the rich. I say put in a toll bridge.

Is it Granite City or Granite Bay?

I say put in a toll bridge.

Agreed and put the northern approach road right through the Folsom Prison graveyard. The scenic route.
