Fox Admits Geraldo Endandered US Troops. It's Official, Geraldo Is "Outta There."

Fox News Channel correspondent Geraldo Rivera has been given a one-way ticket back to Kuwait City. A spokesman for the cable news network said yesterday that Rivera has "volunteered" to return to Kuwait from the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq, where he had been reporting on the war.
But the Pentagon already had said the controversial talk show host turned foreign correspondent was going to be removed from the troop after revealing too many details about its location in a Sunday night report.
Rivera was allowed to report from Iraq yesterday while his case was reviewed by military officials. Though the Fox spokesman would say only that Rivera "may have inadvertently violated" the Pentagon's rules for correspondents given direct access to military units, it was clear that Fox did not believe it could make a case to keep the brash journalist in country.
Rivera will continue to report on the war for Fox from Kuwait. He will not face any disciplinary action.
"Fox News believes Geraldo did not knowingly disregard the rules," a spokesman said.

The news was greeted by a mixed crowd of cheering Iraqi's and coalition troops.

We shall see. The way this has been reported and drug out ... I'll believe it when he is in Kuwait.
I saw and heard his initial report (the 1st map) and felt at the time that he was giving out way too much info ... but then later thought maybe it was disinfo.
The whole thing turned into a mud fight between the networks, each using whatever influence they could exert on the military to "get their way" IMHO.
In the end ... if this is true ... apparently the Pentagon made a call.
Like I said ... we shall see.
I'm glad that our forces have punched through the GAP and are rolling ... all the way to Baghdad!

Now that Geraldo is gone, who will host the live broadcast when we crack open Saddam's safe?

No, he, like many ego-maniacs, wants to grab as much attention for himself no matter what the cost!
This boot-in-the-butt was long overdue!

This guy continues to keep the media eye on himself. The day I heard Fox say they had signed them on sent them and e-mail that they should put him where the sun doesn't shine.
I continue to be repulsed everytime his face and voice is on my tube, cannot erase his pompous attitude along with Lanny Davis regarding their perverted attempts to protect Clinton.
He also calls himself a libertarian, shows what he is to the core, one twisted, arrogrant being.

I'm a little bit annoyed that Fox has been trying to manage this situation. I generally like Fox - it would have been a lot classier on thier part if they would have flagged Geraldo. Technically, Geraldo may not have divulged any classified info but conceptually, the idea on drawing maps in the seen on live TV is way out of line. I was squirming when Bill O'Reilly was trying to give Gerlado cover last night. Just as I was annoyed by Joe Scarborough's (who I also like a lot) highly 'partisan' attack on Geraldo - as if he was an Iraqi agent or something!
Geraldo is a grandstandng buffoon. He never should have been there on the front lines in the first place. Fox should have willingly admitted he was wrong- and MSNBC should get off its vindictive vendetta!

Comparing Geraldo to Benedict Arnett is the moral equivalent of comparing President Bush to Saddam. Geraldo loves America, Arnett is a traitor. Drawing some lines in the sand doesn't give away anything, especially when the enemy can't get close to us without being destroyed by aircraft. Geraldo didn't tell me anything I didn't know before he drew his little map. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to have an idea where our troops are, based on which cities they where fighting in. This thing was totally overblown because of Geraldo's bombastic personality, not his giving away military secrets.
The only thing this does is take heat off Arnett, which is sad, since he is the real enemy, not Geraldo. When the Pentagon puts out a warrant for Arnett's arrest, instead of play politically correct games with Geraldo, then I'll know the media culture is being properly punished by our government, not playing more useless image games.

Geraldo is a grandstanding fool, but I don't think he ranks down there with Arnett. He's vain and silly and a bigmouth, but he's just not down there with Arnett. I think that cartoon is designed not to condemn treachery, but to try to make Arnett look better than he is...
