Kerry Sanders gave the impression that he was the first to receive information about her and passed it on. However, in a subsequent statement, he backed off and I gather he was tipped off AFTER THE FACT.

Gosh, I hope he wasn't showboating! But, I can understand why reporters would get a little bit excited about the rescue of Jessica Lynch. Really great news!

Of course he didn't tip off the military. He would be compromising his journalistic neutrality if he did anything to assist the military or one of our troops.
Remember the question presented to journalists about would they tip off a group of marines about an impending attack if they knew about it and the majority said "No, that would be taking sides when they should be neutral."
