Of course they did :). My question is just how far north is that last bridge however I'm willing to wait until later to find out the answer.

Here is the way I think it came down:

1. Centcom tells the press they have this rescued POW story.

2. Everyone calls up every POW family they can locate. No go there. Then they all call all the MIA families they can locate.

3. Someone talks to the family. They have a source outside of Centcom. They have a confirmation via Centcom. They go with the story.

They probably are ok going with the story as they did not break the embargo but rather found another source willing to give them the story now.

It would be nice if you're correct but I'm skeptical. See post #444

Arabic is spoken in Iraq. They are Arabs. Farsi is spoken in Iran--aka Persia.

Kurds are our Allies,Turkey is not !

Did you catch the piece on Turkey tonight on FoxNews? They gave a very interesting explanation for Turkey's failure to allow our troops access. It seems that the Turk army raised the objection to the deployment. Their army admin raised a huge objection that the number of troops we wanted to deploy (70,000 was the number used during the piece). They felt that number was too large for just a move on Iraq from the north and that they thought we were really going to use Turkey as a staging base for an invasion of Syria. So they screamed at the the government and the government went along with the objection. As the Turk government official put it, '6 billion or 60 billion in aid wouldn't make up for 7-8 years of having their region in flames.'

Today, the Turk army officials gave word that they underestimated the strength of Iraq's resistance and now see the need for the deployment, i.e., they were wrong and they're sorry.

It may be a cya story but it could be the reason they said no.

Because they're idiots *l*. The poor thing kept getting confused and tangling with the humans. It wasn't a very bright bat, it did the same thing almost every night for 3 months *L*.

It was more the pressure for France and Germany and the threats they couldn't join the EU!

Talk about worthless ideals.

I'm no military tactician, but I'm thinking that it won't be a stretch to divert reinforcements (such as the 4th ID)to make a flanking maneuver to the west and hook around to the north.

No problem. Don't know how much my opinion's worth, though, never having been in the military.
