Ha! Well, Hannity gave Richardson some compliments...

Hang on--Centcom says it was "a lucky shot." It was a command & control copter, hovering over a battlefield relaying info back, possibly transporting troops. The environment was "permissive," the rescue was hairy, but successful...some pockets of resistance from the Medina division, were seeking out & destroying small units when it was shot down, suspect machine guns, poss. RPG, might have hit hydraulic line, rear rotor, David Schuster, MSNBC.
Well, if the rear rotor was hit, it would have started to spin and they probably lost control. Really sad. My Uncle told me that during World War ll planes would be shot down by small arms fire so it is not surprising but they must have gotten a lucky hit.

I've sent two scathing emails to CNN tonight--(was there because MSN was making me gag,..no improvement I know). They are like leeches over the story that the Prez is stressed. Blowing it into all sorts of issues that he's really stressed about the discontent in his administration blah blah. Fools. As if any Commander in Chief wouldn't be stressed during war. And they just pounded and pounded the story.
They also had an Arab guest on that basically said nothing at all that we do in Iraq will help anything or anybody until we solve the Palestinian situation. A real "up-beat" this one. Left biased Muslim favorers.
Maybe I'll watch Scarborough. I only gag for part of his show usually.

I just said that same thing to the wife (re: # of episodes). It still smacks of "outcome based singing". Goat girl is pretty cute with the extensions though...:-)

Yes, the smoke is moving fast. That bright light on the right is annoying.

Carl Rochelle is reporting that in addition to the four wounded being rescued, we've also recovered our seven dead.
We do not leave anyone behind.

They are doing us a favor with this guff. They are preaching to the choir - nobody is listening but the hard core liberals and their useful idiots.

Not to sound like a broken-record sometimes, but ya'll should check out his book Under Fire.
You really get to see what kind of man he is and what he went thru during Vietnam, pre-Contra hearing, and hearings. The updated book I have has a really cool picture of him, his wife, President Bush and Laura in front of the White House Christmas tree in December 2001.

...during World War ll planes would be shot down by small arms fire so it is not surprising but they must have gotten a lucky hit. Doesn't have to be even that lucky of a hit. Helos are vulnerable machines. Once they take off for the first time, they spend the rest of their useful life waiting to crash. A shot to an engine, a control system, the main or rear rotor... and it's then a race to the ground under autorotation, if you're lucky.
It's also important to remember that the "small arms" that brought this down could be any of a wide variety of things. Could be a fairly large mounted machine gun or RPG even. It doesn't mean that somebody got lucky with a pistol or an AK 47.
Major kudos are in order for the CSAR groups. Those guys are the real heroes of this or any war.
