I read somewhere that there is evidence that the Republican Guard is being advised by the Russians. I don't know if that is true but it could also be that they don't have any leadership at the top. I think your husband is right.
Haven't heard anything said by that person yet. Maybe a lesson learned since they were held in a prison that engages in torture.
We also know why the activists weren't put in the hospitals like they thought they would be....not enough room with all the ammo and Iraqi soldiers in civilian clothes.
My question: if they're using hospitals, schools, etc., for their military, where are the Iraqi people going if they're sick or injured? Where are the kids going to school? Where are people going to worship if they're using mosques? (These, of course, are rhetorical questions.)
He's deeply "saddamed"...
Yes, that way they get their 72 virgins. Additionally, several sources believe some of the elite troops are drugged.
Miltary is command from the top. They are following orders, and perhaps some sense of mortal defeatism (rather die fighting than be taken). Most of them, if ordered to give up, would. Failure to follow orders results in summary execution.
Very few of them are on the hook for war crimes. Only the very top of the pile, and those who use civilians as shields, fake surrender, etc. The men in the tanks die one way or the other, until their commander surrenders or is killed.
In other news:
3rd Division cross Euphrates north of Karbala at town called Al Musayyib, about 20 miles from Baghdad. That put them on the big highway to Baghdad. About 5 miles along is Al Iskandariyah, then a couple miles north is Latfiyah, and then, about 10 miles from Baghdad, is Al Mahmudiyah.
Yes, repeated mentions on Fox, referencing CENTCOM.
That's not going to happen.
Heavy armor, gotta have it right? Man, it's a fetish for some around here. What is a tank on every corner going to accomplish? How is a mobile howitzer going to root out three fedayeen butchers from their apartment floor hideout? Are we going to search for caches of VX gas and botulism cultures with an AH-64? That's not how it's going to work.
We are going to engage in a massive construction program to build schools, roadways, hospitals, water and sewage treatment facilities, power plants etc. We're going to bring in doctors, teachers and engineers. We're going to keep the tribal hatred at an arms length. We're going to create a semblance of an organized governing structure. We're going to get the oil wells pumping again, the food and medicine moving throughout the state and vigorously destroy all pockets of remaining terrorists and combatants, and defend our people from terror attacks from abroad.
We're going to find and destroy all the gas, germs, nukes and missiles we find, and we'll expose and follow the many operational and financial audit trails linking Iraq to the international sponsors and operators of Islamic terror and murder.
Then, hopefully, we can get the hell out of there.
She is someone who was willing to stand up and be counted in a demonstration where she was outnumbered 1000:1 by anti-American apeaseniks.
She did this without an M-16, with no training, and little "public support".
She stays.
Period.
Suddenly silent, eh? Its rough when someone beats the crap out of your political agenda ... with rubber hoses.

I heard something about that last night when the reporters and Gore's photographer were getting into some kind of vehicle. Sounds like they had a frightening time. One guy mentioned that they weren't tortured but could hear other prisoners being tortured.
This from the U.S. Department of State website:
We can not comment on the condition or any possible use of the property until we have had an opportunity to do an on-site assessment.
That was hilarious! He called the Dem. Senate leaders cowards for letting the "generals" criticize the war plan. Let's hear it again: cowards. Yep.
