I would really like to know how much of his book is truth, and how much is exaggeration and outright lies, to make him look like a big war hero. It would be nice to hear more from people who actually served with him in Vietnam, who could verfiy the veracity of his war exploits.

When I first read About Face a long time ago, my chief criticism of it was that Hackworth's military world was filled with only two kinds of serviceman: soldier's soldier or complete idiot.
It seemd that when the fur flew and people started digging into the bad, he needed somebody out there that would point to him as the good.
