Gore, who lost the contentious presidential campaign of 2000 to President Bush, served as vice president from 1993 to 2001. Oh, THAT, Al Gore. Thanks for clearing it up, AP. I was begining to think you meant Al Gore, from Otumwa, Iowa.
Is AP serious? Do they actually think they need to remind us who Al Gore is? Maybe I should say "was," because Al is history.

You have to be popular to popularize something. Until he became Clinton's VP few people outside Tennessee knew who he was. Even if he were the first to use the term publicly, I bet someone on his staff used it first and Gore stole it.
