I want to help with out tripping them up. I hope my neighbor can find a need I can fill.

If anyone doesn't have such an "in," they can still help at the hospital if they're local to DC. The local Red Cross has many volunteers at Bethesda Navy Hospital and needs more. So much of the hospital's regular medical staff has been deployed, and that means the hospital has been short-staffed all round with reservists. This has increased the ned for administrative assistance I guess. Red Cross is doing regular volunteer orientation to try to staff up the hospital.
