I have a sister who attended college until she was 40. Now Dr. Sister teaches at a college in the Atlanta area where where husband (likewise degreed) works at another university. Over the Christmas holidays, during her visit, she explained that she would most like to see 'income equality' in our country. I literally came untrained as I'm certain she is sharing this drivel with her students. So take heart Jaded, your aunt is just a democrat, my sister's a freaking communist.

I wonder how much your Dr. Sister would be willing to give up to poor, little old single mom me so we could have the same income?

You mean Dr. Sister and Mr. Dr. Sister are willing to live on less money so that others can have more? Ask them how much they're willing to reduce their income, either expressed as a dollar figure or a percentage or both.
Oh, and ask them how much they tipped the waiter or waitress the last time they ate out.
