Hi my good friends on the "Dose"...
I thought I would share something with you. Sunday was the one year aniiversary of my fathers death. I decided to go through his Military records that he gave to me a few years ago and which I have always treasured. As I was thumbing through the many old and faded papers I found a couple of hand written pages that I never saw before. What I found was several poems he wrote to my mother from 1940-42. Since we are in these times of war, I thought I would post a couple that he wrote just before he went into the Army.
My Mothers name was Theresa and he called her "Tess", My Dad's name was Frank and she called him "Franny" here ya go!!!
"OUR LOVE TREE IN THE RAIN"
I go my way alone tonight
To stroll beneath this darkened night
And find my steps are leading me,
To once our spot beneath our tree.
My eyes so search for you in vain
But all I see is falling rain
And here I sit despite the wet
Recalling love I can't forget.
Oh tree, we saw her pretty face
So many times in this our place
But does she sit with someone new,
To sit so close beneath your view.
I must now go, oh, lonely tree
For now my country's calling me,
But I'll be back some other day
To here, Oh! Tree, Where treasures lay
