President Bush headed to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania today to speak about Homeland Security and Operation Iraqi Freedom to a crowd that included many Coast Guard members. The President thanked the Coast Guard for their duty in Operation Liberty Shield, and praised their readiness. Bush also took the opportunity to thank the men and women of the Armed Forces who are serving in Iraq. The President returned to Washington later in the day. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Laura has been practically invisible of late. She was with W last week in Florida but other than that, it's zippo! I agree...would love to see her more. Oh well, she's got W to take care of and for that we are grateful.

I'm afraid I'm a party pooper tonight too. I went swimming - 40 laps - and did tons of yardwork today. I'm loving this pleasant weather.

Are you still on your SB or just starting? Because I thought you were on it when I was.

Hi all,

I'm delighted to report after the healing conference that the Lord graciously began a major healing in my digestive system (diverticulosis) and on my eyes. As with the healing of my hearing last November, this is also a progressive thing. It was a tremendously edifying time and I got to see a lot of friends I hadn't seen in many years.

Brad's Gramma, thank you for the exhortation to go and rest in Jesus and leave "all this stuff" behind. Your words came back to me several times in a very helpful way, as it was difficult to be cut off from almost all news about the war. My heart was in two places.

I had never noticed the hearing aid before. Anyone know if this is new?

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I had a very nice day today! I work at an elementary school and the birthdays are announced in the morning before I get there so I heard "Happy Birthday" just bunches of times. The kids in my math group all gave me hand made gifts, little treasures that I will always keep.

Tonight, we all went out to dinner at a restaurant that serves Tokyo cuisine. It was one of those places that cooks your meal at the table. I can barely move!

For those of you who are Lord of the Rings fans like I am (or who know what a nut I am about those movies), I have to share my favorite birthday gift from my husband, Mr. Mtngrl.

These are life size standups of each member of the fellowship, with the exception of Boromir. Why they don't make one of Boromir, I just don't understand!

Ladyinred - Nope, we didn't have better-than-almost-anything Outback steak, but I did have the most wonderful filet mignon. It was um um good too!

Just one last post before I go to bed. I have noticed the earing aides in Tom Ridge's ear(s). I think he may have one in each. Not sure of the cause but probably due to his military service in Vietnam. Another cause could be from target practice although I don't know if he participated in that sort of thing but a friend of mine who spent lots of time at the shooting range as a young man has two hearing aides because of it. In any event, I do not believe they are new.

G'night!

Gretchen, that is so awesome that your healing conference was such a success. I'm so glad that the Lord is healing you and that you got to catch up with some old friends.
