<EXCERPT>
U.S. troops killed seven Iraqi women and children at a checkpoint Monday when the Iraqis' van would not stop as ordered, a military official said.
Two other civilians were wounded in the incident at a U.S. Army checkpoint on a highway near Najaf in southern Iraq, the official said. The military is investigating, he said.
The dead and wounded were among 13 women and children in a van that approached the checkpoint but did not stop, the official said. Soldiers fired warning shots and then shots into the vehicle's engine, neither of which stopped it, he said.

This smells!

Cavuto reported that our troops shot into the passenger compartment ONCE. How do you kill seven people with one bullet? I know we are good...but...

The others were already dead. Ballistics test, please.

Irrelevant. Not stopping at a checkpoint during a time of war is like standing in front of a moving bulldozer...

Cavuto reported that our troops shot into the passenger compartment ONCE. How do you kill seven people with one bullet? I know we are good...but...Depends on the bullet. A .50 Browning round will punch through the vehicle skin, seven bodies, and the other side of the vehicle--without slowing down appreciably.
A 25MM Bushmaster round will simply turn the passenger area into an abbatoir.

There is no point in repeatedly pulling these threads. It will be all over the news by tonight. Sounds like a clean use of lethal force as it was reported on CNN to me. Its better then reading 7 US service people killed in another bombing.
Still its a terrible tradgedy.

It's not up to 3000 yet killed in the car? Tell me also when they add in the 4 golden retriever puppies that were in the back seat that were slaughtered, too.

Perhaps someone should remind the Iraqi's that the reason CIVILIZED societies have rules of war prohibiting things like false surrender or combatants who masquerade as civilians is to prevent just this type of event. Sorry but the blame for this is entirely on the Iraqi and fanatic Moslem side. They are reaping what they sowed.

Lol. Like the magic bullet that killed Kennedy, then hit Connoly, then turned around and went and got somebody in the other car.

Centcom is confirming now..
Also CNN reports that the US is dropping millions of leaflets telling Iraqis to stay home and off the roads and highways.
I wonder what percentage of the Iraqi population can read those pamphlets?

Either they used the same bullet that killed Kennedy, or one of these:
