Dear Patriot:
The City Council and Mayor of Fieldsboro, NJ have passed an ordinance making it illegal for residents and others to hang yellow ribbons in support of our brave troops on public property. This law has already been enforced against a woman who hung a small ribbon on a tree outside her liquor store. This is a petty partisan ploy by a Democrat Mayor and Democrat controlled City Council.
Does anyone honestly believe that if ribbons were hung for AIDS victims or for innocent Muslims killed in Iraq that the City Council and Mayor would hastily pass such a law and actively pursue its enforcement?
It is quite obvious what is going on here and we will NOT stand for it.
I am organizing a protest set for this Saturday, April 5. We will travel to Fieldsboro, NJ and challenge this attack on free speech and our troops through an act of civil disobedience. The left loves acts of civil disobedience so...
WE WILL ACCOMMODATE THEM!
We will be driving out to Fieldsboro, NJ armed with yellow ribbons and moral authority, [tentatively we are scheduling for 12:00 noon]. We will hang ribbons on trees and lampposts in defiance of these public officials and their ardent support for passing and prosecuting this law. America is at war and the time for partisan politics and cynical activities like this are over. We will take a stand for our troops not because we are Republicans, Democrats, Independents or whatever, we will take a stand for our troops because they stand for us, WE ARE AMERICANS and we owe them that much!
I intend for us to meet at a large parking area to coordinate and prepare. I will provide specific information through an email to all participants beforehand. If anyone is intimately familiar with the Fieldsboro area and can assist me in this please call me or contact me via email.
Please come with us and let your voice be heard. Support the liberation of the people of Iraq, take a stand against the slaughter and torture of the innocent. Stand in solidarity with our troops and against the evil killer and dictator Saddam Hussein even if the Mayor and City Council of Fieldsboro, NJ will not!
A Special Note To Persons That Can't Attend:
If you cannot come with us you can still help support the troops. Please inform your friends, family, coworkers and anyone you know that may be interested about the protest. Call into talk radio shows and explain what we are doing, be SPECIFIC, GIVE THE CONTACT INFORMATION!
Telephone number: 718-380-7004
or
The email address: Patriot Protest@AOL.com
You can also participate by helping to change the minds of the Mayor and City Council of Fieldsboro by telling them how you feel about this matter.
PLEASE... DO NOT BE RUDE - DO NOT MAKE THREATS!
Represent yourself and our protest in a courteous and respectful manner. Permit us to maintain the moral high ground in this matter. Of course you should state your feelings and opinions in a strong and forceful manner but be intelligent and do it is a way that is sensible. Our troops are NOT behaving like the Iraqi military, they are respectful of human life and human dignity. We do NOT have to stoop to the level of our enemies either, [the leftist antiwar protesters and duplicitous political officials], to make our point. If our troops can behave in such high moral fashion so can we!
You can also support the troops though one of the many troop support groups that provide items of need to our soldiers like personal hygiene products, uplinks to loved ones, prayer adoption and other things that can make their mission just a bit less tedious. Remember, many of these soldiers are just young kids. They are far from home and their loved ones and very much in harms way. They need to know that we love and support them and care about how they are doing. Anything that gets that knowledge to them is worth the effort!
The phone numbers for you to contact Fieldsboro officials is below. Please remember the advice above and call them to express your concerns.
Thank you.

*** UPDATE **** UPDATE *** UPDATE *** UPDATE ***
After so many people came into town and posted ribbons
and stickers on public property, the sign that welcomes
people into town was damaged to a tune of $900.
That is one example why residents & citizens are not
permitted to take it upon themselves to post things
on public property.
The Fieldsboro ordinance that restricts citizens from
posting anything on public property was passed many
many years before the Yellow Ribbon incident took place.
No new ordinances were passed regarding Yellow Ribbons.
Council had merely agreed to have the illegally posted
ribbons removed from the borough sign by a person who
had a history of breaking this very law.
The person who started this mess, had a history of
breaking that ordinance and had other issues with the
Mayor in the past. She may have duped everyone by using
this yellow ribbon issue to get back at the Mayor.
In other words, "Let me see if he stops me this time,
from posting on public property"
The correct way to show support of the troops is to
work in cooperation with local government and obey
all laws & normal procedures. Several residents with
relatives in Iraq finally did do that. The Mayor and
council unanimously approved a plan to purchase and
post on public property, some very nice professional
quality Yellow Ribbons and to remove all the not so
nice ones that were posted in violation of the law.
Personally, I think the media, the good intentioned
patriotic citizens & protestors, the mayor & council
all got duped by the person who started this mess in
her act to "shove it up the mayor's ass" by illegally
posting ribbons on that sign.
I don't know a single person who does not support
the our troops in Iraq. However, I do know a few
people at the time of the Yellow Ribbon incident
who felt we did not belong in Iraq and were not
willing to put their sons & daughters or brothers
& sisters in jeopardy in this war. According to
public opinion polls in 2006, it seems most people
now agree with those few people & the Mayor of
Fieldsboro's stance on the war in Iraq from 2003.
Looks like he was right again!
Sometimes the dust has to settle before
you can see things more clearly.
That's the Truth!
