ALL ASHORE Elements of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) - special operations capable - offload personnel and equipment at Camp Patriot, Kuwait, in preparation for operations in Iraq. The 24th MEU has been deployed with the USS Nassau Amphibious Ready Group for over six months awaiting their forward orders. More than 2,200 Marines attached to 24 MEU, homeported at Camp Lejeune, N.C., hit the beaches of Camp Patriot in Marine Corps style aboard U.S. Navy Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) and landing craft utility vessels. The Delta Dogs also provide security for anyone needing added firepower during their movements around the country. They are routinely used by finance to assist in transporting money from post to post. They also assist in the transport of ammunition to camps through out the region.
