Peter Arnett is an anti-American extremists and Baghdad suck up/propagandist. NBC praised Arnett's "outstanding" reporting so what does that make NBC?

I wish I could have five minutes alone with that clymer, just five minutes. Hell, ONE minute!

In saner times, they hanged Lord Haw Haw for that sort of thing.

Wrong. Saddam lets you stay because he sees you correctly as a "useful idiot". That is why you're still in Baghdad and are being used for interviews on state television. Loyalty is a forgotten virtue.

Peters idea of the perfect country:
"Arnett also said "clearly this is a city that is disciplined, the population is responsive to the government's requirements of discipline," CNNs article
I am from behind the Iron Curtain.
Communist Hungary was also a place where we had to be "responsive to to the government's requirements of discipline"

Arnett has completely crossed the line, no matter how you slice it. He has pioneered a new level of treachery. Until now, anti-American journalists were content merely to serve as conduits for enemy propaganda. Until now, they were happy just to stick their microphones in the enemy's face and allow the enemy to spew their lies unchallenged. Arnett has outdone them all. He has surpassed the likes of Dan Rather, who went to Baghdad and personally interviewed Saddam. He has also surpassed Peter Jennings, which is no mean feat. Arnett, a reporter employed by an American company, has sat down in a studio and allowed himself to be interviewed by Iraq. Instead of interviewing the enemy, he has allowed himself to be interviewed BY the enemy, giving more "credibility" to the enemy's propaganda by parroting it himself. He might as well be an official of Saddam's information ministry. Maybe he's gunning for Baghdad Bob's job.
Words fail to describe the obscenity of what he has done. Not only has he announced to the Iraqis on their own tv that the coalition war plan is a failure, he has claimed that his reports on civilian casualties have emboldened American opposition to President Bush. In so doing, he has emboldened Saddam's regime, the Republican Guard, and the Fedayeen irregulars to continue fighting, and this will cost many more lives. There is no other way to describe his actions but to call them aiding and abetting the enemy.
Arnett had better be careful over there in Baghdad. He'd better hope special forces don't put a red dot on his forehead. He has committed treason, and freedom of speech is no defense for what he's done. Freedom of speech protects dissenters here in CONUS, not in Baghdad. Arnett spewed his venom against the US in Baghdad, and the First Amendment does not protect him over there. He has violated the oath he made to the Constitution when he became a US citizen. Arnett should make his treachery complete, quit National Geographic, and go to work for Al Jazeera. What he's done over there makes him indistinguishable from the enemy.

"The Iraqis have let me stay because they see me as a fellow warrior," Arnett said. This leftist puke, that dumped his own country, for money, to leagally become a citizen, isn't fit to lick the mud off a private, let alone call him self a "warrior".
"They know I might not agree with them, but I've got their respect." BS. You do agree with them. Arnett, the Jane Fonda of the war.

After the first Gulf war, A-hole Arnett was sent to drug rehab. Apparently, he's relapsed.

Journalist Peter Arnett reports from Baghdad on NBC television Friday, March 28, 2003. In an interview broadcast by Iraqi TV Sunday, March 30, Arnett said that the American-led coalition's first war plan had failed because of Iraq's resistance, and that strategists are 'trying to write another war plan.' I'm so mad ... I could just explode!" Unresolved conflict can severely limit communication but here goes. Bush 1 now 2 were sniped at by .Arnett With the conflicting correspondence from this looser. I don't understand why he is held in such high esteem? Free to lie Press. Well, I guess those who swallow the lie also perpetuate it.

I know. The more you think about this, the madder you get. So many say the media doesn't see it's own bias, I don't buy that.
To: BellStar
I just heard on Good Morning America that Arnett has been fired because of this interview. Has this been confirmed?
