WTF Is Geraldo doing?

Posted on 03/30/2003 8:48:09 PM PST by lewislynn

This is the third night I've seen Geraldo giving the location of his company and mentioning the new supply route to the west.

Three nights ago he gave his location by miles. So many miles north of Q8 and so many miles south of Baghdad and so many miles west of ?....

Now he's drawing their war plan in the sand.

I'll put Geraldo in the Peter Arnett category (is anybody really surprised at his treason?).

I went to the FOX website but can't find the e-mail address...I'm pissed.

Yep, I saw Geraldo last night doing his sand map, too, (dh and I were pretty surprised) and just saw him on FOX. He is still there and was not kicked out. Said NBC and MSNBC are "rats" just spreading lies about him because they can't compete. :)

You might want to re-assess who has embarassed whom.

(Hint: The person that points out something, that is later proven without a doubt to be true, rarely has anything to be embarassed about.)

You were right!

Geraldo just reported with the 101st, some 60 miles South of Baghdad, and said that he only heard, when he called in for this report, minutes ago on Fox News Cable, that rumors had been spread about his being taken out of Country.

He said, "The guys at my old network are spreading rumors about me" and then something to the effect that they didn't know how to report war news, and that it was THEIR guy, Arnett, who had been thrown out of Country. He had some other choice words for his former employer.

He also turned to the troops standing around him, and said, "You guys are glad to have me with you, right?" and they all answered, "right" or "hoohah".

Then he humorously added, the only thing he could wish for was powder in the MRE's to make beer, and got a rousing "HOOHAH" from the guys around him.

Rumor, rumor, rumor. No wonder Fox News wasn't reporting that he had been taken out of Country - BECAUSE HE WASN'T.

Way to go AntiJen - you said that he'd only reveal what he'd been told he could - so that map in the sand wasn't something to get him kicked out!

I could not believe he was going thru all that last nite without approval

Me neither. It struck me as very odd.

"Yea, a brilliant strategy...but for the strategy to work it has to be reported...Since they aren't reporting it, FOX I guess isn't part of the grand scheme."

Mr. Lynn, why?
You may be underestimating the Iraqi military's ability to collect & collate intelligence; but, it's my position our side isn't nearly that gullible.

We're speaking about the American & English media, here.
These are the point-people of the world's Liberal-Socialist movement we're speaking about, for Heaven's sake.
Those "journalists" are going to report what our guys WANT them to report, & more importan they'll do so when our guys deem it safe to our kids who're the ones risking it all.

Now I've read your postings around this place for years.
Long enough to know you're no dummy; &, as such you must know I'm not exaggerating my claims concerning the political bent of this media one iota. If anything, I'm probably understating the seriousness of the situation. {g}

So yes, I *think* it IS a brillaint move on behalf of this administration as well as those they've selected to succesfully prosecute this war on behalf of you, I & all the other American citizens & taxpayers.

The "enemy" is both abroad & here at home, & no. I'm not a "paranoid."
What I am is someone who's still *smarting* from the painful years '92 through Y2k when I witnessed *what* the most despicable administration in the history of our Republic could pull-off with this Liberal-Socialist media to run interferrence for 'em.

This administration -- I sincerely pray -- is in the *process* of relegating "reporters" to reporting "news & events" the way they're supposed to to be reported to a nation; after the fact.
Not before nor during; whereby, spin, distortion, even veiled treason can be perpetrated all in the name of Freedom of the Press to shape the all important public opinion and/or damage a nation's psyche just becuase their [read: Liberal-Socialist's] will is NOT being abided by.
Which is exactly has, does & what'll happen with this bunch because there're none more spiteful than they.

All the while you & I -- truly informed people -- are left to helplessly watch the Big Lie be devoured piecemeal by the woefully lazy??
No thank you, Sir.

That was Clintigula's way of "doing business" with his allied sycophant mediots, Mr. Lynn.

..was Clintigula's strongest suit, too.

Lewislynn opened this thread and my first reply was along the lines of "Relax, if he violated security, he'll be booted out."

Well that's exactly how it turned out but I do want to give lewislynn credit for being the first one here to point it out (Geraldo giving out unauthorized information).

As for Geraldo, I don't trust the guy as far as I can throw him. During the Clinton impeachment mess, Geraldo threw all his credibility (and objectivity) out the window when he defended the inexcusable acts of the former president. It became a personal crusade for him.

Since he came to FOX, many here have jumped on the Geraldo bandwagon and assumed his newly found patriotism was genuine. Maybe that is true. I can't speak for the man. But I think his performances on Fox were often over-the-top and grandstanding at the expense of our troops. He is the only embedded reporter that uses them (our troops) as props for his reporting (by lining them up and having them cheer, etc.) Maybe that is not such a bad thing in of itself, to show our troops cheering and letting the folks back home see them, but coming from somebody with the background of Geraldo, it always came off to me to be somewhat contrived and artificial. I also get the impression that many of the troops in his live reports resented being used as props in this manner.

At any rate, Geraldo is gone. I hope that FoxNews sends him on his merry way so that he can find employement elsewhere. I really don't want to see his goofy, grinning face on any FoxNews show.

Well....if he did cross the lines, it would appear as though the military knows that FOX is on their side as opposed to almost everyone else except CNBC when Kudlow and Mad Man are on and they gave him a warning/break.

Maybe...anyhow, I'm glad. He's an enthusiast for our boys and they obviously like him and appreciate it. Better than some stand-offish jerk that they know looks down on them and lives to report if they fail.

>>I bet Geraldo is telling where CENTCOM wants the Iraqis to 'think' that unit is located<<

I think the embeds are part of the war plan, probably unwittingly.

Actually Sam, he never left apparently. This "story" has moved quick.

If the brass did rescind his dismissal then the others will howl foul.

See, there's often a bright side to things.

>>He's relaying what he was told, which may or may not be correct<<

The world is meant to see the "faltering advance on Baghdad" in Mesopotamia.

The world is not meant to see anything else.

So far, so good.

Actually, I'm hearing the whole Geraldo-getting-fired-thing was a hoax.

I'll reserve judgment till I see the end result.

I'm at work so I'm having a difficult time keeping up with the changes. I'll check back in 15 minutes to see if Geraldo's status changes yet again!

WTF are you talking about???

This FReeper "lewislynn", has many ways to be embarrassed. I qualified my remarks, so my butts fully covered.

And as of right now, Rivera is still reporting from Iraq. Shoudl the military PTB, conclude Rivera crossed the line, like I've said numerous time, he should be expelled. So far that hasn't been the case. Wake up!

Jeraldo like Arnett is a TRAITOR. These guys are educated men and are well aware of what and what not to say. Just because Jeraldo now works for a network that has decided to support our troops does not make him anything but the commie he always was. I am really upset that FOX chooses not to report that Jeraldo messed up. They continue to Bash Arnett instead. I do watch FOX but are they fair and balanced when it comes to there commie boy.

I do think Geraldo is a dizbrain though. I am glad he seems to have turned over a new leaf and even apologized for his previous antiwar behavior. I hope it's sincere.

I kinda like Rick Leventhal's reporting better though. But as long as Geraldo is being fair I wont complain. :-)

Didn't Rick Leventhal last night or this morning at the end of his broadcast say something like: "By the way, we're about 75 miles from Baghdad"???

That's what we were wondering about. Haven't seen it reported anywhere! Wouldn't FOX say something about one of their own????

I saw that sand map. It did not appear to be more than some show boating and it seems the military has loosened the reins on position reporting. I have seen a lot of it from all networks.

BTW, be careful how you throw the word "traitor" around. It carry's with it some serious consequences and you denigrate it's meaning by using it out of context. IMHO
