Just made a quick trip to the music store to buy the CD:-) Thanks for the suggestion.

I've always thought The Famous Flames' take on Jimmy Forrest's "Night Train" was THE James Brown number although he really doesn't sing on it.

It's a classic, a legendary album. Back when it was originally released, R & B stations would play it over and over and over again.

I believe (someone will, no doubt, correct me if I'm wrong) that it was James Brown who said to a certain young fellow "pull up your pants and maybe your grades will follow. And turn your ballcap around so it points to your future."

I believe that was Jim Brown, the football player. (Although he has his own demons.)
I think James Brown said, "Jump Back!! Wanna kiss myseff!!!!"

This is an incredible album...oops...I mean CD.... You were okay. Webster's definition of "album" includes "an anthology of artwork, songs, writings, etc."
Thus the word "album" can refer to the collection itself rather than the medium of its containment. Music CDs and vinyl records are therefore both properly referred to as albums because they represent a collection of songs.

I was station in Naples, Italy 77-79. I had the pleasure of listening to a James Brown album from the 50's. Way before his Godfather persona. Good stuff!

Bump for the Hardest Workin' Man in Show Business! He puts on a great show! Years ago I went to two straight shows of his in Boston. The first show was great. The second show was unbelieveable! Dancin' in the aisles.

I didn't go to this show (it came up on me without knowing about it soon enough) but I went to his show last year at the same place.
Great show and a positive message but there was almost a 10 minute lag in the program where reps from the offices of Mayor Leepy Brown, Rodney Ellis, and maybe even Queen Sheila Jackson Lee all made their proclamations of "James Brown Day"...etc. etc. James knew what his accomplishments were, his audience knew what he'd done, and he was noticably bothered that these blowhards spouted their office titles and his greatness for 10 minutes! Mayor Lee P Brown couldn't even be bothered to attend and sent a representative.
Nothing like that went on when I saw James Brown 18 years before that at the same place.
Go see James Brown while you can... and dress nice for the show.

Add James Brown to the "Good Guys" list, along with Brian McKnight, whose latest album "U Turn" is really good, especially the last song with Kirk Franklin.
